I'm talking about hitting those speed on wired connection. Wireless, another story la. Even on wired, still need high end AC router?
If it's just for hitting 500Mbps on ethernet, not really necessary for a canggih router. My old RB750GL from 2011 can hit 500Mbps. Most important have hardware NAT, CTF, Fasttrack, etc (many different names). Even the cheapo ones from TM also can. 800Mbps no problem.
However when you start using the router for more functions such as QoS, rate limiting, vlans, traffic monitoring, etc... then you need a faster router.
This one will probably struggle once I start pushing it. It's already at 80% CPU usage for 500Mbps.
Mikrotik RB750GL from 2011. With Fasttrack (hardware NAT/CTF) ON. CPU Usage: ~80%. Tested on Turbo 800Mbps.
A newer one will fare much better.
Mikrotik hAP AC2. 800Mbps with Fasttrack (hardware NAT/CTF) OFF. CPU usage: 100%.
