Disabling IPv6 is the only way for now.....unless TP-Link decided to 'fix' it......You didn't notice those external random IPv6 traffic probing your devices?

QUOTE(Hianz @ Apr 11 2019, 08:28 PM) Actually just set the 2.4ghz channel between channel 1 - 11 and 5ghz channel between 36 - 48.Reason = Regulation issue. In Malaysia, the allowable channel for 2.4ghz is 1 - 13, however, your client devices might be imported and subject to other country restriction which limit it to 1 - 11. Thus, when your router automatically choose channel 12 or 13 for 2.4ghz, your client devices will be 'unable' to detect it. Same with 5ghz channel.Don't get me started with U-NII-1,U-NII-2A,U-NII-2C,U-NII-3, TPC, DFS and transmit power etc...... You can max out the channel width for both. |

QUOTE(AV_2018 @ Apr 17 2019, 07:50 PM) My microcode is already updated to latest and Windows is fully patched with Retpoline enabled too. I don't have any issues, I don't use Chrome, just testing to compare Chrome and Firefox on slower CPUs. Oh, okay, just a notice for those who experience slow transfer speed to update their microcode or enable retpoline manually.......... The faster PC is Core i5 7th gen desktop and the slower PC is Core i5 2nd gen laptop if anyone want to compare. Both are on latest microcode. |

QUOTE(annoymous1234 @ Apr 17 2019, 08:41 PM) Hmm. Bought the archer A6 thinking it would solve the disconnected issue. But it didn't solve anything. Sometimes it will auto reboot. And the reboot takes longer time than tm stock router Impossible, A6 doesn't have auto reboot or long starting up issue......other than that IPv6 firewall issue.......Must be your BTU problem. |

QUOTE(annoymous1234 @ Apr 17 2019, 09:57 PM) booting up is longer than the huawei RG4332. with the huawei RG4332, less than a minute it's connected, the A6 takes longer than that VDSL router? A6 only takes around 1 minute to boot up complete. So....you are saying you use RG4332 in bridge mode, then connect A6 to the RG4332 and use A6 as PPPoE dialer? Any information on the VDSL statistics? |

Maybe unrelated to unifi, but I need help in solving mdns issue (unsure if it is router fault or IGMP snooping/proxy/V3 issue)
Recently...... I discover my phone is getting very hot and draining battery for no reason. Betterbatterystat displayed wifi = 100% and wlan_rx_wake is very active The ancient guide on google/xdaforums about solving wlan_rx_wake is useless ( disabling IP Helper etc) because the result from phone tcpdump ( I adb into the phone ) CODE 00:21:24.365393 IP 192.168.0.1.55414 > 224.0.0.251.mdns: 4309 PTR (QM)? 192.168.0.88.in-addr.arpa. QUOTE(SilentVampire @ Apr 18 2019, 11:02 AM) Any error messages? It will state error, disconnected, or something like that. If there is just disconnection without any error messages, it could be your BTU. Highly probably it could be your BTU anyway. The problem is.....192.168.0.1 is the router itself.Looks like your phone is constantly request something that uses multicast? It is constantly sending mDNS requests, and it could be something to do with reverse DNS lookups, or trying to get some kind of information. Do you have anything networking-related enabled on your phone? What is at 192.168.0.96? Your phone is at 192.168.0.1 is trying to send netbios packets via port 137 to 192.168.0.96. Remember when I wrote Archer C1200 is banging hard on my every devices on netbios port 137? Turn out Archer A6 also does the same. Except this time, there is magnitude of mdns requests originating from the A6 router every 10 seconds to all my connected devices. I disconnected every other devices (LAN devices + wireless devices) from the router except my phone and still......mdns request is coming from the router every 10 seconds. edit: 192.168.0.96 is my phone ip address. The router also sent netbios request to every connected devices. NETBIOS request = every 1 minute. Mdns = every 10 seconds.....my phone battery life..... QUOTE(SilentVampire @ Apr 18 2019, 12:15 PM) Hmmm, that is weird. But, it could be a firmware issue. Is it only affecting one particular phone or all devices? All devices. QUOTE(soonwai @ Apr 18 2019, 01:25 PM) Wasn't this supposed to be fixed many months ago by Google? Beside, with only my phone being connected to the router, the phone still getting mdns from 192.168.0.1 router. |

QUOTE(soonwai @ Apr 18 2019, 01:55 PM) When I adb-ed into my sister android phone = also same results with netbios and mdns.QUOTE(BenYeeHua @ Apr 18 2019, 02:33 PM) Based on my Wireshark result, the mDNS should be asking every 20 second per device for Android(Google Cast), 10 second for iOS(AirPlay). As it is send to multicast address which is 224.0.0.251, so you should able to capture using a laptop/another devices. My case = exactly 10 seconds mdns to every devices. Maybe you should try to take a look using WireShark first? Just be aware that they updated to using Npcap instead of old WinPcap, and uninstall of WinPcap is recommended. Will do, after I got back home later. This is strange, so you are telling us your phone are faking as a Router???(telling other 192.168.0.1 is your phone) Sound like your smart phone either trying to acting as a P2Pover(you know, ARP all the device and rate limit them Eh? My mistake, Virus on your smartphone? No strange process is found using top command Anyways, used to WireShark, so maybe I am wrong on TCPdump. Using the Stupid TP-Link Archer C1200 v1 with latest Firmware Version: 1.0.0 Build 20180403 rel.22124 (EU) (TM latest firmware la The modification that I done is disable the FTP account and other which turn off the FTP, as no FTP or SMB or whatever logged in the log. But there is a strange ARP from router, which asking who has 32.1.14.104 (AT&T IP address), so I guess some new loophole or bug. |

QUOTE(BenYeeHua @ Apr 18 2019, 03:48 PM) For Netbios, I still think it can be the FTP thing(SMB It should be untick and off for all, and a reboot should disable them and not leaving a log record. Archer A6 doesn't have USB port, so there isn't any FTP, SMB (samba) or sharing access available. For mDNS, I don't observe such a issues that causing wake_lock, and a mDNS or Chromecast should not causing such a huge issues. But it can be a kernel bug or a WiFi driver bug on your Android phone, if only this Android phone is having this issues, while another is not, then it is possible this case. You can try many thing. 1. Try using Mobile network and turn off WiFi, what's happen? No issue with mobile network. My battery life is longer when using mobile network only (projected battery life = 25 hours). With Wifi = projected battery life = 8 hours 2. Try assigning a static IP address on your Smart Phone(by clicking the SSID on WiFi settings, and changed to static IP Done this yesterday. Doesn't work. Same netbios, arp and mdns. 3. Try kill the GMS and all the social app(that will connect to any server la), which will using GCM to having a connection for receiving the notification, but this is hard to kill, just create a GMS shortcut on launcher and disconnect it, it is com.google.android.gms/com.google.android.gms.gcm.GcmDiagnostics Too bad Google choice to hide it, it can be reach easily few months ago... Tried greenify for all google related services, same issue. No social apps either. Even tried OS safe mode, same problem 4. Update ROM? If possible and it is not your primary phone, try using custom ROM which will be another Kernel? I am using LineageOS 14 Android 6.0.1, rooted. My sister phone also using LineageOS 14 Android 7.1.2 (I installed it for her). Kinda unlikely to be android OS issue 5. Ensure it is AES instead of TKIP for your Wireless setting in your router, this should enable hardware acceleration, but TP-link router should be AES as default already. Yes, I explicitly selected WPA2-PSK AES only. No luck either. |
