Then it looks like IPv6 is the only way for basic users to access their internal network eg IP cameras.

My D-Link IP cameras do support IPV6, maybe I'll try later.

QUOTE(soonwai @ Apr 30 2019, 01:52 AM) Wifi tends to be worst there because of the enclosed space. I get really shit 5Ghz when I'm in there. No pun intended. Toilet runs, including retest some locations, as I got faster Internet this early morning This post has been edited by taqu: Apr 30 2019, 08:04 AM |

QUOTE(necron1993 @ Apr 30 2019, 05:42 PM) Are someone here getting the same issues as me? Quite normal. Speedtest uses server closest to our home, hence max speed. Other sites might be located outside Malaysia, or the sites doesn't support 300++ mbps speed.Test speed at speedtest.net Im getting 500m down / 100m up Outside speedtest.net my max speed only get 200m down / 100m up |

I'm lucky my house has built-in CAT 5E cables set as telephone points. I just need to change the wall faceplates to RJ45, and put wired APs there. Hence great Wifi speed & coverage.
- D-Link DIR-868L running Tomato firmware as router (Wifi disabled) - Tenda AC18 as ground floor AP & cheap NAS - Another D-Link DIR-868L as master bedroom AP (second hand) - D-Link DIR-850L as first floor family area's AP (second hand too) - 89mbps toilet speed - TP-Link SG108E as main switch connecting all 3 APs to router - Raspberry Pi 3 B+ running various monitoring apps, connected to SG108E's mirror port - HyppTV connected via Powerline This post has been edited by taqu: Apr 30 2019, 06:18 PM |

I've followed KLSeet Shibby Tomato guide for VLAN setup. https://advancedtomato.com/downloads/router/dir868l |

QUOTE(DecaPix @ May 1 2019, 10:32 AM) Oh wait, so means your 868 AP is only giving 428 Mbps DIR-868L max around 400++ mbps as it's older device (not Wave 2), TP-Link A6 probably better buy. DIR-850L I don't expect much considering its "legendary reputation" and it's abit slower after D-Link patched multiple vulnerabilities. Still happy with the performance considering second hand price and your 850 AP is only giving 260 Mbps? hmm..that's kinda low eh I'm on 500mbps plan BTW. QUOTE(borgyang @ May 1 2019, 04:00 PM) Since my old router is unable to support Turbo speed 300Mbps at both LAN and Wifi (Up to 100Mbps only), I have decided to get a free router replacement by renewing contract with TM. DIR-850 can't cover a single floorI did consider to top up money to purchase a better router and might get better performance in Wifi. But as we all know, it is not possible get full Wifi speed 300Mbps in real life, due to signal coverage, distance, network congestion and interference. So I am ok with it as long as the Wifi speed can achieve 100~200Mbps. May I know which has the best performance among the stock router (TP-Link C1200, D-Link DIR-842, D-Link DIR-850L) provided by TM? DIR-842 better, but barely covers a single floor C1200 not bad in term of wall penetration, but too old & many complaints. Mine just died after 2 years. Double storey homes, these 3 router won't do. |

QUOTE(borgyang @ May 1 2019, 06:22 PM) I never use DIR-842 but I've used DIR-850 & C1200. Hard to say but I remember C1200 can still get 80 mbps after 3 walls. However many people complaints about C1200 eg Wifi unstable etc. Mine was ok beside the 5-minutes boot time.I believe TP-Link C6 should be better. Or even TP-Link A6 as it's cheaper. |

QUOTE(necron1993 @ May 2 2019, 03:06 PM) Yeah. Im think about the same as you because the server we speedtest was closest to our home. 53.4 MBps is actually 53.4 x 8 bits = 427.2 mbps. Already great speed off Steam.Until my cousin show me this My Speedtest at dslreport never hit 500m down like him. My speed only around 200m down at dslreport Check back my original post . I test speed in few sites non of them hit over 200m. Maybe you can take a speed test at dslreport. Is TM cheating speed on me? AFAIK dslreport speed is not hosted within Malaysia. That was few years ago though. Have you tried installing Ookla Speedtest app from Windows store, or tried speedtest from Firefox browser? |

Complain to TM then.![]() AFAIK this guy taqu clearly didn't read what I post. OK my unifi plan is 500m and his Unifi plan is 500m too. dslreport is not hosted in Malaysia then? Explain to me why his 500m unifi plan getting 500m download speed at dslreport and Mine unifi plan 500m only getting 200m download speed at dslreport . Now did you get what Im saying? My speed is capped at 200m outside speedtest.net. cpu: intel 9900k ssd: samsung 970 pro 512gb for OS ssd: samsung 860 evo 1tb for storage Tested with other weaker pc still the same cap at 200m download speed outside speedtest.net BTU:Huawei HG8240w cat6 to router tenda ac18 PC connect to router via cat6a or original tenda router cat5e |

I understand your frustation. I can't explain why your cousin's dslreport speedtest can get 500mbps when yours can't. I haven't used dslreports for years so plz don't flame me ok 😀
As I said earlier, you should try Ookla's speedtest as it's the most reliable indicator. TM's speedtest or Time's speedtest also fine. You can always complaint to TM if you're not satisfied. Tell em your speedtest result. |

QUOTE(necron1993 @ May 7 2019, 06:20 PM) Ok already complaint to TM. TM technician came and change the router to Dlink DIR-842 now all my speed are able to achieve 500m. Yes, using it as ground floor AP, not as router. You have tenda ac18 router right? can you take a few test? like steam download and take a speedtest at dslreport My old tenda ac18 is bottleneck my speed LOL As AP, OOKLA Speedtest got 503mpbs, while Dslreport Speedtest got 423mbps. Since you asked test results as router, I set it up as temporary router for testing. Result? 504mbps for OOKLA Speedtest, 217mbps for Dslreport Speedtest, both using cable. For Wifi, 425mbps for OOKLA Speedtest, 147mbps for Dslreport Speedtest. Somehow on my laptop, Dslreport Speedtest is always lower than OOKLA. Not sure why. But if OOKLA Speedtest is to be referred, Tenda AC18 should be OK. If you want screenshots, I'll post it later. Need to revert back my network config & get sleep |
