I am planning to "improve" my 2009 Honda City with some simple mod. I am not really into cosmetic stuffs like adding modulo kits. I am more into practical mods that can improve the car in terms of ride or security or usage experience and so on.

So wahai sifus, please suggest some mods that I can apply to this car.

Some of the stuffs that I am thinking of doing:

1) front dash cam - getting one with budget around RM200.
2) back/reverse cam - don't really need this
3) android 10" player - still considering - around RM1000
4) polish and wax the car - have never really done this. - RM???
5) LED headlight - I am not into LED headlight shining a people
6) Car balance bar - good for when cornering...can consider if cheap enough
7) Better rim and tyre? Currently using stock 15" rim
8) Better suspension system? Currently using stock.

Please comment and suggest, thanks!

Because I like doing some DIYs and if I screw up, it's an old car. Plus, the car condition is still very good so I will be keeping it for at least another 5 years. And once I learnt how to do those things and if I find them to be really useful, I can apply it on my newer cars.

Some of them are due to technology advances and more convenient to get them now. For example dash cams. They are now much more cheaper and easier to get from China compared to few years back. There are also a lot of youtube videos now teaching how to DIY them. That is why now seems like an appropriate time to get dash cam.

1. depends what you are looking for, some okayish brands like xiaomi/xiaoyi can get cheap ~150
2. Yes, onece yo have this function you wont look back
3. Good brands like sony cheapest AA, ACarplay, ~1200, china brand of course cheaper
4. Since you want DIY maa, can go cheap, just need elbow grease, Cleaner wax (Soft 99 meta clean) and sealant/wax/coatings
5. Not worth it, light output subpar, and cutoff might be bad
6. up 2 ur own taste
7. up to your wallet
8. same as #7, but youre looking to lower? get at least Tein, cheapest of the best.

Good idea! Since it's such an old car, don't really need full android function.

Found this to be cheap enough. Can integrated reverse cam to it if I decide to install reverse cam later.

I own a 2011 (2009 edition) City.
Just had my car polished for the first time in 7 years for rm88. Totally worth it.

Im more towards replacing parts and fluid before the parts totally breakdown though. Same mindset, I want to be able to drive the car in tip toe condition for the next few years. The plan was to be at least 3 years car loan free. Mine was just just paid up late last year.

Few things I did recently after it reached 100k:
Changed serpentine belt.
Changed and bleed brake oil.
Cleaned throttle body.
Changed fuel filter.

Plan to do the following this year:
Change atf filter during next atf fluid change.
Use seafoam on engine oil and fuel.
Try spray wax diy after every car wash.
Buy a cleaner and DIY clean MAF sensor.

Get a dashcam as soon as you can, that should be your priority.

Reverse cam....you've driven the car for 10 yrs without the need for one, why do you need one now? Some more the car is so small.

Buy an OBD 2 scanning tool. So you can see the workings of your car. Some comes with live monitoring through phone app. You probably can install the app into your android player. So no need to take out phone.

Else buy a GPS tracker to secure your car.

Most stuff that tempt car guys these days are electronics rather than mechanical mods.

1) front dash cam - getting one with budget around RM200.
- ok, useful when u need it, e.g when get into any unfortunate accident
2) back/reverse cam - don't really need this
- the most useful of the list
3) android 10" player - still considering - around RM1000
- if you think infotainment upgrade suits you, go ahead
4) polish and wax the car - have never really done this. - RM???
- depends on the paint condition, if paint bad, better re-paint the entire car
5) LED headlight - I am not into LED headlight shining a people
- if you can get proper ones, yes, enhance visibility at night, better safety
6) Car balance bar - good for when cornering...can consider if cheap enough
- not worth it, oh... those ultra racing, stiff ring are all overpriced low quality products. Just marketing bullshit
7) Better rim and tyre? Currently using stock 15" rim
- yeah, can consider
8) Better suspension system? Currently using stock.
- improved handling but at a cost to comfort

1) front dash cam - getting one with budget around RM200. Plenty to choose for under rm200 already
2) back/reverse cam - don't really need this actually it can be very useful
3) android 10" player - still considering - around RM1000 Can get for just around 600-700
4) polish and wax the car - have never really done this. - RM??? Buy Fave voucher, only around rm70-100
5) LED headlight - I am not into LED headlight shining a people No need, just use good bulbs like Osram Nightbreaker
6) Car balance bar - good for when cornering...can consider if cheap enough hmm only if you know what you're doing, otherwise maybe just leave it
7) Better rim and tyre? Currently using stock 15" rim IMHO tires is the most recommended mod in your list. Use good high performance tires size 195/55/15 such as Hankook V12 Evo 2. That would make your car handles much better. Rims just leave it stock at 15', don't upsize.
8) Better suspension system? Currently using stock.
if you don't drive spiritedly, maybe just leave it stock because sportier suspension may reduce comfort. But if you want to corner harder and faster then yeah go change to sport suspension, coilovers system is the best if you have the budget otherwise some sport springs would already improve a bit.
Please comment and suggest, thanks!

Handling - change ur rear sway bar to aftermarket then if the back is more stable too ur driving then install fender bars.
Feels good n stable change aftermarket shocks. Now u cornering faster then before and u feel the front of the car rolling too much then add front strut bar.... now better but at the braking limit u feel the car bottom moving then add front subframe bar.... etc add things gradually.... too what needs to be addressed.

Lighter rims with wider JJ width spread the tyre out more and help the car corner better with less unsprung weight. Better stick to 15 to avoid speedometer errors and acceleration, fc etc.

Drop in K&N for hi rpm lighter feeling.... budget and low rpm lighter feeling simota. Best balance k&n. Best filtration, stock air filter .
