IMHO for a free Antivirus, Avast & AVG didn't do too bad against KAV, the difference is only 7%.

Not quite true. Imagine if AVG/Avast missed that 7% of that 174,770 virus. that's around 12,000+ of virus. doh.gif Think about it, then tell me if it is still "not bad".
I'm not using KAV btw, hate the huge footprint. Slows down explorer's seek/load time. Eset supporter. (Infinite trial period whistling.gif you know what i mean) laugh.gif

As the saying goes "You get what you paid for". But look at the bright side, Avast & AVG even beat other popular commercial AV like moneyflies.gif Mcafee & Norton doh.gif

I get your point. But honestly speaking, how many of us actually paid for AV softwares (those that are not free, lah)? If you use pirated XP/Vista, then why bother using free AV when u can get paid-but-u-know-what-i-mean AV (which is better but also free) ? I'm not advocating piracy here, just my 2 cents.

If you want to use pirated AV then fine, but some people do want to be legit, some do use licensed Windows. And these free AV give them the choice to stay legit.

Funny thing is many clueless people still install pirated Norton because of hype and think AVG sucks because it's free. This list just prove that 'fact' is wrong and that's really what this thread is about.

If you want to educate people to use better pirated AV than Norton then more power to you. But if people want to know what free AV is good, I'll still say AVS, Avast & AVG.

Kapersky for XP and AVG for Vista and Norton for Mac. I got Norton for Mac free. All latest version but no beta for Kapersky. I used to use McAfee but 1 year ago and then the license expired so I decided to use Kapersky.

Karpesky is always the best!! thumbup.gif
and Norton still always the least

currently using AVS, no. 3 thumbup.gif

in virus check, i really have no expectation on Norton and AVG
and i also wont recommend this 2 AV to other people

yeah rite, kaspersky is good, but it cost more. and the kaspersky internet security is not performing so well. their firewall is bad

but in term of virus detection and counter.. kaspersky is the best.. bitdefender too

I use Bitdefender Internet Security v10 & NOD32. Always pays to be extra careful.

Tried Kaspersky Internet Security 6 before but it really is bothersome, especially when it rates all webpages such as gmail, CIMBclicks, Public Bank online, etc. as having unsafe certificated...but they are already certified by Verisign. Also, I don't like the fact that I can't use other programs that are "incompatible" with Kaspersky, especially when I need to be extra careful in my environment whereby there are lots of viruses, malwares, etc.

Kaspersky also seems to slow down the network. And it always block programs from accesing the web even when I already add them as safe. So many headaches and bothersome. But I must say, it is really awesome at detecting all those unwanted entities in the computer. Maybe it's just that I'm unlucky, but heck, 2 days into using the trial, I give up.

Same goes for Zone Alarm. That is one program that I'll never use again. Slows down the computer and network. It is really efficient in detecting virii and malwares, but I don't like my computing experience to degrade.
