Hi, my baby was born barely a month ago with emergency c section due to fetal distress. He's premature and IUGR (had growth restrcition in my womb). He was admitted to NICU for 17 days and had to have phototherapy a few times due to jaundice.

After he's back in our home for 1 week, KKIA detected him having jaundice again. He's over 21 days age already so doctor is concerned if his jaundice is prolonged jaundice (means something wrong with liver or kidney). We just went to private hosp (we were referred to govt hosp, but we know the procedure will be go there, take blood, make another appt at least one week later to see result, then wait another appt to see pakar) for fast test result. I was hoping it will be breastfeeding jaundice which will eventually go away and non life threatening.

Turned out there's something weird with his liver reading. The Gamma-glutamyl transferase (GGT) is very high. We were advised to take another test 3 weeks later and meantime go back to birth hospital 2 weeks later to seek other opinion.

Anyone has such experience and did the high reading go away eventually?

We are already consulting and told to wait if it will go away. But I am looking for anyone every experience this with their child.

Just very high GGT and jaundice.Stool color sometimes greenish sometime yellowish. We were shown the chart of stool color and his color is normal.
Pee color also normal.
Just that he has bad reflux. Everyone told me it's normal but he seem to clear his throat and milk flow out from his mouth while he's sleeping. He hardly sleep soundly because of this. But all doctors and nurses were not concerned. I jump out of bed whenever I heard him clearing the throat sound. And a lot of time he will wriggle like he's in pain until he woke up crying. I did burp him every time after feeding but still the same.
He's gaining weight well and right now having raving appetite. I basically have to breastfeed him every hour and each time lasted more than 30 minutes.

NICU had not done any ultrasound before, but the next appt with NICU is where we will show them the blood test result and see if there's any opinion.

I guess the reason I posted is to see if any parent/doctor encounter this and in the end it turns out well? That the high GGT is one time off and not life threatening. I can't sleep thinking about this. Knowing I could only wait. I guess I need example to give me more hope?
