Im going to Kyoto + Osaka + Hiroshima + Tokyo end of october. So it will be autumn at that time, will it be too cold? I saw the tempe around 22 (day) 11(night), should i buy inner layer? Or sweater should be enough? Scared if it's too windy.

windy = this part is very unpredictable
it was super windy the last time i was at tokyo which makes it super duper cold
*
That's why, I dont really mind the temperature, but if it's windy, it will make it a lot colder. May I know when was the time you went there that super windy?

it was early january
but that time even the temperature is unpredictable

weather forecast say 10-7c, the day before departure i check live weather...also around the range
but when i arrive, it was 3c laugh.gif
and it was 3c all the way until my 2nd last day, thn it got warm back for 1 day before i leave
*
I see, January is winter right. So that one have to bring winter clothing no matter what. haha. I think for my trip, sweater that can cover till 10c should be okay. I hope. haha.

If you don't like to carry so much clothes and wear so many layers of clothing, HeatTech is your answer.  laugh.gif

yes
it was winter and i did bring my winter jacket
but i was under-prepared due to the sudden temp drop and wind
i forgot to bring glove and face mask
my hands are being blown by the wind until whitish and stiff
my face is being blown by the wind until my lips dried and cracked....my cheek also have peeling because so dry

only my body part is well insulated laugh.gif
*
I see, okay2. Will keep that in mind if im going on winter. But autumn i dont think i need to wear HeatTech kan. haha. So far the forecast never say that it will drop below 10. Just hoping that it's not so windy. My first time driving there, normally just take train. haha.

Just want to offer my 2 yen. I was in Kyoto-Osaka in October last year and I noticed the forecast temperatures this year is similar. From my experience, the early morning and night time can feel a bit chilly for some people when temperatures drop to 10+ C. But in the afternoon it can get very warm - don't let the 20+ C temperatures fool you. I would say a sweater or light jacket is sufficient. If you love cold weather like me, you can actually do without one even.  laugh.gif

Between a 1hour 50 mins flight vs a shinkansen + train ride + transfer time for 6-7 hours+-, I will stick with the flight thank you. biggrin.gif
Use google translator should be the safest.  tongue.gif
Nolar... You definitely don't need HeatTech in autumm. Just a light jacket in your bagpack would be enough. If you are in the city, it wouldn't be that cold compared to the outskirts.
*
Yeah, just planning to bring the sweater from universal traveller. it says can tahan till 10-15'c. Should be sufficient i guess. Thanks for the advice! notworthy.gif notworthy.gif notworthy.gif

Edit: btw, im going to Hiroshima, Kobe, Nara, Nikko - Tochigi area. So this consider quite outskirt right?

My 2 cents, a windbreaker is better than anything else. Sometimes, its mentioned 10+C for the temps, but with wind, it can go wayyyyy lower than that. Worse come to worst, just go to Daiso and get few heat packs for your hand and few masks for your face to retain moisture.
*
I see, okay, let's see, if anything can buy the heat pack in Japan itself, should be easy to find, right. My windbreaker i dont think can tahan that well, went to Bali on June, the mountain area i can feel the cold, that one not even 20'c. haha

I'd say everyone's cold tolerance is very subjective. It tends to rain during autumn and the temp gets crazy cold during that time or afterwards. Or night time. So if you already have heat tech, just bring along. Judge for yourself then decide whether you'll want to wear the heat tec or not biggrin.gif

They're outskirt, correct, but still major tourist attraction. Nikko is pretty quiet except when you're at the shrine.

Since you're going Nikko, I highly, highly recommend dinner at Hippari Dako lust.gif the tsukune (chicken meatball) and yakitori is sooo good. One of the best I've ever had. Also, Nikko is famous for yuba (beancurd) so you'll see yuba dishes everywhere.

You're right. Maybe I'll just bring the Heattec, just in case. My tolerance to cold is quite high, but wind is another story.

Ooo, nice! Will try that dishes! Hope can find the halal version. Lol. Thanks for the recommendation! notworthy.gif

Thats right, not going to take up much (if any) space at all biggrin.gif better be ready. For autumn i usually go about with a heat tech inside, and a hoodie on the outside. It was sufficient. Winter is different story haha.

Ahhhhhh i'm not sure if its Halal. Btw for Nikko i saw this for

yeah, i think i'll pack 1 heat tech for safety. haha.

that ramen and chips looks sad. haha. i think i'll bring some food from tokyo then, or onigiri always sufficient for me. haha. but thanks for the info though! biggrin.gif

Anyone here used Wiyo pocket wifi at Hiroshima and Tochigi area before? Or maybe anyone have any other recommendation? So far this is the cheapest I can find, which is RM11/day. I used it last year for Osaka, Kyoto, Kobe, Tokyo, seems okay.

just get 3

Tokyo is big and its easy for you to lose your friends so having internet will be super easy if one of you are lost

Some scenarios can happen eg:

Imagine one of your friend did not manage to get out of train in time and stuck in the train lol and 2 of you are out

or one of you are busy at the hentai section at your popular book store but two of your friend already go to the next building/floor
*
That wouldnt really a be a problem, we all know there's plenty of wifi spot in Japan, so not really concern about that.

Cheaper by how much?

Just another option: Hello1010 Japan 15 days 6GB sim card for RM75
*
for Wiyo wifi, its rm11/day. and it's unlimited data. so i think so far this one is the cheapest i can find.

QUOTE(adix4 @ Sep 15 2019, 01:24 PM)
I don't know if things changed that much since 2 years ago

Apparently I have a hard time finding free wifi spot back then
*
Really? Which part of Japan you went to? Been to Tokyo, Osaka, Kyoto, Nara, Kobe all, so far so good. Not that hard to find the wifi connection over there.

QUOTE(babylon52281 @ Sep 15 2019, 05:08 PM)
Unless you insist the whole group must go around together, better to get pocket wifi. My last trip I got local sim card in my phone but it was difficult to manage when I have to pass it to others because they needed the line more than I do. A pocket wifi can be easily passed among ur group. Either that or if you have spare unused phone, can bring it along as a wifi hotspot with a local sim.
*
Well, our group is not big, only 3 person, so still manageable. If more than 4 maybe will get 2 pocket wifi or sim.

WiFi easy to find but finding one without registering etc. is a pain in the butt

Ended up just getting wiyo for everyone because rm11 per day
*
i see, then i guess wiyo is good then.

Some like in Australia are very strict at bringing fresh produce into their country as it could bring in pests. They don't even allow ba'kua in!
*
I remembered last time I went to Sydney, was years ago, my mom brings murtabak. The custom asked her what is that, she said a bread with meat, then they let my mom go. Maybe not so strict back then.
