Hi! I'm planning to visit Tokyo-Osaka-Kyoto around late October for 7 days. If I want to spend 3 days in Osaka, 1 day in Kyoto and last 3 days in Tokyo should I get the rm1k JR pass? or are there any cheaper alternative way to move between these 3 cities?

Are you doing a round trip from Tokyo back to Tokyo or flying into Tokyo and leaving from Osaka?
If it's the former a 7 day JR Pass might pay off, if the latter it doesn't pay off.

The cheaper alternative is to just use your IC pass (SUICA/PASMO/ICOCA) within those 3 cities itself and buy a one way shinkansen ticket.

Got it. I guess one way is much better then. Flying into Osaka and going back home from Tokyo. Thanks!

I did the trip in reverse recently. Went from Tokyo - Kyoto, then Kyoto - Osaka. Shinkansen for Tokyo - Kyoto is RM525 including reserved seats. Kyoto - Osaka is maybe RM15-20. No need JR Pass. JR Pass only worth it if you want to return, eg Tokyo - Kyoto - Osaka - Tokyo,

wow didn't know Kyoto-Osaka was that cheap haha. No need for the JRpass then. Thanks!
