If you have to rate from 1 to 10, 10 being the safest.

How safe is Tokyo for female solo traveler?

Safety rating 10 before 12am
Safety rating 7 after 12am to 3am

Subway last train at 11 - 12am period are worst of the worst
I give 3 out of 10

10. Super safe for me. Last trip travelled around Tokyo and Kansai area most of the time on my own, no issue at all. I'm a female too if you are wondering. biggrin.gif However, I have not stayed alone in Japan, blessed with friends in Tokyo and Kobe, hence free accommodation that time. biggrin.gif

Glad to hear that.

Because my little sister wants to travel alone to Tokyo, it's her 2nd in Japan, I'm kinda still worry.

How do I divide total of 9 days trip for Osaka and Kyoto?

Osaka 6 days, Kyoto 3 days?

Should I just stay in Osaka and do day trip to Kyoto?

Osaka and Kyoto are two quite different cities...so it depends on what your itinerary is really? What do you want to do?

For my itinerary is 5 nights in Osaka, 7 for Kyoto. Osaka for USJ, food and shopping. Kyoto for visiting the old city, gardens, temples, shrines and enjoying the serene and beautiful sceneries.

Did a little reading, Kyoto is just 1 hour from Osaka, I guess there is no need for me to stay in Kyoto, can just do day trip to Kyoto.

after some research and countless reading of blogs and contribution from this thread, here is my itinerary.
the temples in Kyoto are just for reference. i don't enjoy touch n go and will stay in the area if i like it and skip other places.  smile.gif
Day 1 will be 15 Nov, and deliberately organised in such away so i get to enjoy Kyoto more on weekdays (i could be wrong though reading so many is planning to reach some POI before 7am) biggrin.gif

Osaka
Day 1 - Arrival and check in. Mid night by the time reach AirBNB

Day 2 - Osaka Amazing pass (skipping the aquarium and tempozan area though)

Kyoto
Day  3 - Fushimi Inari Shrine > Tokufuji Temple > Kyoto National Museum > Sanjusangendo Temple > Kyoto Railway Museum > Ninnaji Temple > Ryoanji Temple > Golden Pavilion

Day 4 - Kiyomizudera Temple > Higashiyama District > Kodaiji Temple > Kennin-ji Temple > Lunch in GION > Maruyama Park > Chionin Temple > Nanzenji Temple > Eikando Temple > Heian Shrine > Yoshida Hill Temples & Shrine > Philosopher's Path > Honenin Temple > Silver Pavilion

Day 5 - Arashimaya Bamboo Grove > Tenryuji Temple > Monkey Park Iwatayama > Togetsukyo Bridge & Sagano for shopping > Lunch at Shigetsu at Tenryuji Temple >
Okochi Sanso Villa > Jojakkoji Temple > Gioji Temple > Adashino Nenbutsuji Temple > Otagi Nenbutsuji Temple > Daikakuji Temple

Day 6 - Northern Higashimaya Area > Murin-an Villa > Konchi-in Temple > Tenju-An Temple > Honen-in Temple > Yoshida-yama Mountain
or Sagano Romatic Train

Osaka
Day 7 - Don't know yet. I am quite clueless about crowded place  sweat.gif

Day 8 - Nara Deer Park > Kofuku-ji Temple

Day 9 - Osaka then 6pm > KIX

feedback is welcome if i can squeeze or exlcude some area. counting cost for temple admission is  bangwall.gif

Better to boil just to stay safe. Anyways, I find nearly all full serviced restaurants I been to provides free water.

Yes... but I would definitely not drink from the toilet tap from the hotel room.
Yeah.. I agree. I try to look for set lunch instead because lunch deals are usually much cheaper at famous restaurants. At night eat bento boxes or ramen lor. Even that is not cheap now. 1000 yen is almost Rm40. sweat.gif

I'm trying to save some bucks from buying drinking water.

The last time I was in Tokyo for 8 days I didn't realize I spent almost RM150 on bottled drinking water. shakehead.gif

klook and kkday no more selling it. any other recommended options to buy from that could straightaway printout the tickets and use it? or there never was such convenience before  icon_question.gif

Thanks bro for the tip. You are the man.  thumbup.gif

Yes, it was quite confusing at first because it only allowed 11/11 to be selected. Only after selecting 11/11 and selecting the number of days you can enter the booking page that state "Device Pickup Date".

Booking done. Real value for money. thumbup.gif

I also got mine from Klook, RM9 for 9 days.

Flight to Osaka today.

No advantage unless you Klook has discount.

I brought mine with 11% discount during 11.11 sales.
