10. Super safe for me. Last trip travelled around Tokyo and Kansai area most of the time on my own, no issue at all. I'm a female too if you are wondering. However, I have not stayed alone in Japan, blessed with friends in Tokyo and Kobe, hence free accommodation that time.

Osaka and Kyoto are two quite different cities...so it depends on what your itinerary is really? What do you want to do?

For my itinerary is 5 nights in Osaka, 7 for Kyoto. Osaka for USJ, food and shopping. Kyoto for visiting the old city, gardens, temples, shrines and enjoying the serene and beautiful sceneries.

after some research and countless reading of blogs and contribution from this thread, here is my itinerary.
the temples in Kyoto are just for reference. i don't enjoy touch n go and will stay in the area if i like it and skip other places. 
Day 1 will be 15 Nov, and deliberately organised in such away so i get to enjoy Kyoto more on weekdays (i could be wrong though reading so many is planning to reach some POI before 7am)

Osaka
Day 1 - Arrival and check in. Mid night by the time reach AirBNB

Day 2 - Osaka Amazing pass (skipping the aquarium and tempozan area though)

Kyoto
Day  3 - Fushimi Inari Shrine > Tokufuji Temple > Kyoto National Museum > Sanjusangendo Temple > Kyoto Railway Museum > Ninnaji Temple > Ryoanji Temple > Golden Pavilion

Day 4 - Kiyomizudera Temple > Higashiyama District > Kodaiji Temple > Kennin-ji Temple > Lunch in GION > Maruyama Park > Chionin Temple > Nanzenji Temple > Eikando Temple > Heian Shrine > Yoshida Hill Temples & Shrine > Philosopher's Path > Honenin Temple > Silver Pavilion

Day 5 - Arashimaya Bamboo Grove > Tenryuji Temple > Monkey Park Iwatayama > Togetsukyo Bridge & Sagano for shopping > Lunch at Shigetsu at Tenryuji Temple >
Okochi Sanso Villa > Jojakkoji Temple > Gioji Temple > Adashino Nenbutsuji Temple > Otagi Nenbutsuji Temple > Daikakuji Temple

Day 7 - Don't know yet. I am quite clueless about crowded place 

Day 8 - Nara Deer Park > Kofuku-ji Temple

Better to boil just to stay safe. Anyways, I find nearly all full serviced restaurants I been to provides free water.

Yes... but I would definitely not drink from the toilet tap from the hotel room.
Yeah.. I agree. I try to look for set lunch instead because lunch deals are usually much cheaper at famous restaurants. At night eat bento boxes or ramen lor. Even that is not cheap now. 1000 yen is almost Rm40.

hello, tried to buy disneyland tokyo direct from their website, but no online option type despite the webpage telling it can give eticket.

klook and kkday no more selling it. any other recommended options to buy from that could straightaway printout the tickets and use it? or there never was such convenience before

Movies theme? Harry Potter, Minions, Spiderman, Jaws and etc. have sweaters. I think every theme has sweaters.

Yes, it was quite confusing at first because it only allowed 11/11 to be selected. Only after selecting 11/11 and selecting the number of days you can enter the booking page that state "Device Pickup Date".

any advantage buying icoca card thru klook compared with buying straight at jr ticket office? not any cheaper and need to exchange the voucher at kansai/namba
