going to visit tokyo for 8 days on next year march.. Any sifu can recommend which location is best to stay in tokyo city? 2 nites will be at lake kawaguchi, but have no clue for tokyo accomodation, probably will allocate one nite at hatchobori for easier disneyland access but was looking for other tokyo accomodation at more lively place with tons of street foods

Tokyo and Japan don't really have good "street food" in the way Seoul or Bangkok or Malaysia does ba. Anyway in Japan walking and eating is not encouraged šŸ˜‚

For lively place to stay, Akihabara, Shinjuku, Shibuya area lo. But for me my fav place to stay is Kanda lol. Maybe cos old liao.

thanks alot for your insight here, noticed that kanda just beside akihabara also, sharing same jr line as shibuya and shinjuku, will decide between these places

Haha just to be clear, Kanda is sort of an office area so there are some shops, bars, restaurants etc but not much. It's relatively quiet compared to akihabara shinjuku shibuya etc. But I like it cos it's close to Tokyo Station for Shinkansen rides, accommodations a little cheaper, and it has JR yamanote lines and also Tokyo Metro Ginza and one more line I forgot, so it's well connected.

But like I said maybe cos I'm old liao so nightlife doesn't matter to me, by 10pm already in bed zzzzzz šŸ˜‚
*
So i think kanda is more or less the same with hatchobori, surrounded by office and lesser shoppping experience, and Kanda/akihabara will takes 30mins to shinjuku if by metro.
Guess i will go for shinjuku as my last 4 days in tokyo will be more on shopping (mostly cosmetic stuff, heard ikebukuro has more cosmetic retail) and cherry blossom sightseeing.
lol but that will leave me with lesser hotel choice, seriously not much accomodation choice in shinjuku <500myr as its around weekend. Shibuya is even more expensive.

Kawaguchigo worth to visit or not? cost per pax 300 ringgit  transport just for a day. expensive
*
More like a quiet place to relax yourself from hustle and bustle of the city, 2 days 1 nite shld be enuf to explore surrounding area. Even the ryokan there is not cheap, cost me 3.5k for 2 nights and hence i decide not to visit hakone

anyone has experience staying in hotel wing international or sunroute plaza at shinjuku? not sure which to choose between these 2 for my last 4 nights at tokyo, as one is at kabukicho and another at south of shinjuku station.

still in dilemma whether to proceed my trip next month, going to lose more than 3000myr for accomodation and entrance fees as those are non-refundable purchase lol, flight ticket wise still not sure whether SIA allow change of flight ticket to next year or they have limited allowable date change

SIA now is being very flexible with waiving flight change or cancellation fees for flights to affected countries in March (and I think May). Can give them a call and see.

Similar with hotels. My Tokyo Hilton booking in end March was non cancelleable rates but they agreed to let me cancel without penalty cos of the virus. Problem is Osaka Hilton (also non cancelleable rate, in early April) said no, cos for now their instruction is to allow exceptions only until end March. But I’m somewhat confident that they will extend this to April bookings too cos the numbers for japan are going up up up.
*
yes same thing told by my frens that have just cancelled their SIA flight to korea... will give them a call later for reschedule arrangement.
Accomodation wise i will check with agoda as 2 of my hotels are non-refundable booking, luckily the mt fuji hotel is cancellable, that cost me 3k++ myr, sighhh
