QUOTE(RegentCid @ Nov 27 2019, 11:41 AM) If really going Aizuwakamatsu, Hint me up. I will share the best Tonkatsu restaurant address to you. From Tokyo, Shinkansen/JR to Aizu-Wakamatsu, Scenic train to Aizu-Kawaguchi, Stay overnight at a ryokan somewhere here, Next day reverse the journey? Looks damn scenic but I dunno what moi home affairs minister will think about trying to handle the baby 6 hrs train ride, 2 days in a row lol. I ask her and see 😶

QUOTE(JohnsonLoi @ Nov 29 2019, 01:24 PM) 1 day pass for adults costs 3900 yen Snow escalator pass cost 1600 yen.
Does that mean the 3900 yen mean lift + rental for gear? And 1600 yen is only the lift It’s a bit strange that you have your own ski gear but seem so unfamiliar with ski prices. Lift tickets are (almost) always separate from equipment rental. Snow escalator = the beginner zone escalator. If you only plan on sticking to super beginner zone then can save money buy only this ticket. 1 day pass = all the lifts on the mountain including snow escalator Equipment rental: separate charges https://sapporo-teine.com/snow/rental/generalThis post has been edited by deodorant: Nov 29 2019, 05:24 PM

QUOTE(Current Events guy @ Dec 2 2019, 03:15 PM) I'm going for a ski trip with buddies to hokkaido this Jan, but this time there's going to be 2 infants with us (both around 6 months old). No experience but just curious, the parents gonna drop the babies off at nursery (I guess at the hotel you’re staying at) and go skiing?

QUOTE(topearn @ Dec 5 2019, 09:03 PM) That's what I thought but RegentCid posted this "All passenger depart from Narita must pay the fees no matter what airlines you takes." Pretty much all airports around the world charge these fees de. Most airports and airlines the airline will collect the fee from you and pay the authorities as part of the ticket price (but there are a few minority places that u need to ownself separately pay). My upcoming trip you see even miles redemption ticket also must pay. This post has been edited by deodorant: Dec 6 2019, 01:58 PM

QUOTE(L.Torreira @ Dec 11 2019, 01:44 AM) Bro, Actually I don't feel rushed seriously. Our itinerary are manageable. 90% of planned itinerary are realized. Not about rush, but about completeness. 4 days in Tokyo really barely scratched the surface, over my last 6 trips to Japan I’ve spent more than 3 weeks (in total) in Tokyo itself, and still haven’t seen / smelt / eaten / experienced everything. But of course you should holiday your own way. If you don’t like Tokyo / Osaka or any other big cities then that’s fine too 😂

QUOTE(captivesim @ Dec 11 2019, 11:40 AM) Any day trip play snow experience near tokyo, which cheaper ? exclude Gala Yuzawa and Yeti fuji. Maybe karuizawa? I got no experience there but from google seems doable as day trip. If you willing to go a little further and stay overnight like in Nagano / Niigata / Yamagata areas then I got more personal experience recommendations.

QUOTE(Waliuuu @ Dec 18 2019, 01:45 PM) I will be staying overnight in Nagano, Nearby Yudanaka station. Could you recommend me something? I am quite lost lol. I will be arriving in Nagano in noon. Planning to visit nearby attractions like snow monkey park and nozawa onsen. The next day I will be going to Ryuoo Academy for a ski lesson just to try out.. Snow monkey park 1/2 a day then go back to your ryokan soak onsen and sleep, then next day since you’re planning to go Nozawa Onsen anyway then why not just ski there?

QUOTE(Blofeld @ Dec 29 2019, 10:06 PM) How come there is lack of snow in Hakuba this time around? Climate change I guess. A couple of my skiing acquaintances who decided to go Honshu resorts over Christmas were super upset with the lack of snow 🤷🏻♂️

QUOTE(babylon52281 @ Jan 3 2020, 11:01 AM) Hahaha but Kobe only can get in Japan. While wagyu I generally find it much cheaper in Aussie, even got to eat Wagyu burger in Sydney for RM40. “Wagyu” from Australia, US, etc is quite meaningless. Lots of producers import a cow from Japan and crossbreed it god knows how many times with local cattle and then still sell it as “wagyu” anyway. You need to do a lot of research about brand names / producers to filter out the gems from the trash. For example Cold Storage sells lots of unbranded “Aussie wagyu” steak cuts here that have shit marbling and suck donkey ass. On the other hand, top notch producers like Blackmore (who breeds full blood Japanese kuroge cattle), their meat can easily rival anything coming out of Japan except the top producers (Kobe/Matsusaka/Ohmi etc)

Europe so big and so many countries, how to compare like that man. Eastern Europe countries probably cheap cheap.
On the other hand I took taxi in Geneva before from office to airport, around 20mins / 10km journey was SFr 45 or 50 IIRC (like rm200ish).

QUOTE(Chaud @ Jan 28 2020, 10:02 AM) sakura forecast for year 2020 is out Nowadays weather so unpredictable. Myoko kogen when I went to ski last year, by end Jan they already got almost 11m of snowfall. This year end Jan barely got 2.5m. With this kind of winter, don’t know whether Sakura will end up being mid March or not 😂 Anyway my trip 28Mar - 05Apr, hope it coincides with peak 😂

QUOTE(leonghan @ Jan 28 2020, 03:16 PM) anyone travel to JPN during month of Jan / Feb? Is it alot of rain fall during this period? In the time it takes you to get a response you could’ve easily googled Tokyo rainfall and gotten the answer for yourself. Anyway Jan/Feb nice and cold but not unbearably so. I always do a few days in Tokyo around that time on my way to ski.

QUOTE(Blofeld @ Jan 30 2020, 10:39 AM) This year not going skiing anymore? Had a baby in September so a bit too early 😂 Next season maybe can ski again but toddler will be too young, so if end up going then will have to dump him at childcare at the ski resort (both side parents in MY not SG so can’t ask them to babysit also).
