thanks for the info  notworthy.gif

im flying kl > osaka (kansai) - depart 2pm 12oct

from what i see from JAL and ANA. 11th Osaka affected, 12th Tokyo affected .
hope 12th Osaka can recover and resume all the flights ...  finger crossed

anyway where can i check if airasia have any announcement on flights to japan?
for reference:

It's impossible to predict a typhoon's path

Current trajectory is heading towards kansai region, with a last minute turn towards kanto region. Don't hedge your bets on that last minute turn being accurate down to the dot though

From what is shown on Google maps that's updated by Japanese weather bureau
The typhoon will hit more on Tokyo than Kansai area
*
The typhoon is HUGE mang, can cover whole of japan

Good thing is that it's weakening somewhat

Hopefully this will be the last one that will hit japan this year (there will still be typhoons in oct-nov-dec)

Some info for travellers travelling to Kanto region

Avoid going to:
- Hakone
- Nagano

As the transportation network to these places have been severely damaged, with no prospect to recover within a few weeks to months

how about Kawaguchigo?

Kawaguchigo the best spot in Japan? a must to go place?
have you bought osaka amazing pass? 50 places for free sure no boring la.

I have bought osaka amazing pass so I need to stay in osaka for 3 days. Kyoto 2 days enough? kyoto doesn't have amazing pass like osaka where we can go 50 places for free

Kawaguchiko highway buses are operating, trains nope...

here are some tips for those who're travelling to kansai region

1. the immigration process only took 2-5 mins from the moment u queue, they have so many machine on standby
2. going out of japan are all using self check out machine like in KLIA2 for malaysian...but apply to all local and tourist
3. each place like kyoto, osaka, nara, kobe has their own confectionery(biscuit, cake..etc) so be sure to grab them if u see something u like...u can't get them if you left there....kit kat included
4. the seat availability for the sagano romantic train in their website is innacurate...it changes from time to time
5. if you're taking the bus from golden pavilion back to kyoto station, u can actually disembark at a bus stop in front of the kyoto university and visit the imperial palace and walk down toward kawaramachi(saves u a train ride to gion-shijo station from kyoto station)
6. visit fushimi inari by 7.30AM, it takes 1 hour to reach the top and 1 hour to go down....the moment you're half way down..you'll alot of people going up
7. the train in kansai region is more straight forward as compared to tokyo which is complicated
8. kobe is a huge area, i personally prefer u guys overnight if u wanna explore the whole place....it takes around 50mins to go there from namba station and back
i personally go kitano area, walk back down to chinatown...did not manage to visit harbourland

Did you buy the 2 days kyoto bus & subway pass? hmm.gif
Or did you just use IC je?

after some research and countless reading of blogs and contribution from this thread, here is my itinerary.
the temples in Kyoto are just for reference. i don't enjoy touch n go and will stay in the area if i like it and skip other places.  smile.gif
Day 1 will be 15 Nov, and deliberately organised in such away so i get to enjoy Kyoto more on weekdays (i could be wrong though reading so many is planning to reach some POI before 7am) biggrin.gif

Osaka
Day 1 - Arrival and check in. Mid night by the time reach AirBNB

Day 2 - Osaka Amazing pass (skipping the aquarium and tempozan area though)

Kyoto
Day  3 - Fushimi Inari Shrine > Tokufuji Temple > Kyoto National Museum > Sanjusangendo Temple > Kyoto Railway Museum > Ninnaji Temple > Ryoanji Temple > Golden Pavilion

Day 4 - Kiyomizudera Temple > Higashiyama District > Kodaiji Temple > Kennin-ji Temple > Lunch in GION > Maruyama Park > Chionin Temple > Nanzenji Temple > Eikando Temple > Heian Shrine > Yoshida Hill Temples & Shrine > Philosopher's Path > Honenin Temple > Silver Pavilion

Day 5 - Arashimaya Bamboo Grove > Tenryuji Temple > Monkey Park Iwatayama > Togetsukyo Bridge & Sagano for shopping > Lunch at Shigetsu at Tenryuji Temple >
Okochi Sanso Villa > Jojakkoji Temple > Gioji Temple > Adashino Nenbutsuji Temple > Otagi Nenbutsuji Temple > Daikakuji Temple

Day 6 - Northern Higashimaya Area > Murin-an Villa > Konchi-in Temple > Tenju-An Temple > Honen-in Temple > Yoshida-yama Mountain
or Sagano Romatic Train

Osaka
Day 7 - Don't know yet. I am quite clueless about crowded place  sweat.gif

Day 8 - Nara Deer Park > Kofuku-ji Temple

Day 9 - Osaka then 6pm > KIX

feedback is welcome if i can squeeze or exlcude some area. counting cost for temple admission is  bangwall.gif

Banyak temple... after a dozen or so temples, they will begin to look the same. Try mixing in different sights and activities

For example, make the trip north to Kibune, or east to Otsu and Lake Biwako, or if u really rajin, amanohashidate

Skip Kyoto sightseeing pass

Use IC for JR lines (quite cheap), Osaka to Kyoto by shinkansen is like 15 minutes, and not that expensive
And get 1 day bus pass (600 yen) instead to get around, it covers most tourist areas

Been trying to find answer for this question bout Kansai-Hiroshima Area pass

https://www.westjr.co.jp/global/en/ticket/p...nsai_hiroshima/

There is a detailed guide and exceptions at the bottom of the page
[attachmentid=10352082]

* 5 Separate charges will apply if using carriages / trains that require numbered or liner tickets.
Does it mean it is valid for JR Special Rapid but if the Special rapid service is a numbered or liner I need to pay extra, correct?

this is sample i want to use. the pass for

[attachmentid=10352083]
BTW plan to go Hiroshima later so interested in this pass.
*
That pass is for unreserved seating only, in the event that some trains do not have unreserved car, additional charges may apply

Hiroshima is lovely, only stayed a night, would love to go there again someday laugh.gif

It's easy la
Take train to Shimoyosida station (nearest station to Chureito pagoda), usually got sign/staff that will point you the right way to Chureito pagoda
