Doesn't seem like much up there but it's an option if we get bored or Arima Onsen.
Just tried a dummy booking and those ryokans are quite pricey, would prefer to do a day trip from Osaka.
Good shout re Kobe, I think that's what I will mostly likely do.

Anybody thinks this is a good deal - https://www.hanshin.co.jp/global/en/images/...ex/arima_en.pdf?
*
if rokkosan is included, get this arima + rokkosan pass instead
https://rail.hanshin.co.jp/ticket/otoku/pdf/ticket_en.pdf

it include cable car/ropeway to Mt Rokko, bus to other side of mt rokko ropeway, ropeway down to kobe.
n u can see the autumn tree from rope way as well as kobe city view from mt rokko itself.

but the onsen only limited to either Gold bath or Silver bath.

felt weird why klook is selling their sagano romantic train more expensive than the original
price for 1 way originally is 620 yen/pax
but klook is selling at RM46 which is over 1000 yen/pax/way
*
go there buy from counter, get the open air coach which u can only get from the counter.

I dont know how my question can be very general.

1 - Jan or Feb (which month better)
2 - how long duration to explore enough places (not rush, meaning not too packed)

The reason I did not limit to what my preference is to get idea from those who went before to share their experience here.
I'm not even asking for a detailed itinerary.
If that is too much, then I'll try elsewhere.
Thanks anyway.
*
1- do check when is Sapporo Snow Festival. if u are interested.
2- no idea how much u wan to cover.

reason its hard to help u up coz u dun specify anything at all.

are u goin to rent a car there? public transport? tour guided bus?
renting car, u can cover alot of place, if u r ok with driving in winter snow.
public transport has it own challenge. few places hard to get there/require strict schedule.

note: i never been to Hokkaido, but did plan for this summer, draft out my itinerary but set aside since something came out n unable to proceed.

need you guy's advice on my itinerary on kyoto osaka trip
is the whole thing too rush or?
and what can i do on the last day since the flight back is a night flight
*
Nishiki & kuroman ichiba close at 6pm.
for Fri, Kaiyukan is not bad choice.

Have decided to get a JR Pass for our Kansai trip so suddenly a lot of different options have opened up like Kinosaki Onsen & Okayama/Kurashiki.
*
Kinosaki Onsen, if din plan on staying at their ryokkan n wan to take dip more than 2 times, get Yumepa Pass.
if u lazy to bring ur big towel, u can "rent" for a price, after u use, u can take it with you to next onsen. n the town get really quiet after 6pm (near train station).

Amanohashidate is not a bad place. its quiet town tho.

I agree with Human Nature, day 2 looks too hectic so I would drop Nishiki & Imperial Palace since by the time you reach Nishiki it would he quite late already and I heard the market is mostly bustling during the morning.

My own plan for Nara is 1 whole day so by including Fushimi & even Uji on day 4 for your schedule looks quite tiring.

You're staying in Kyoto or Osaka?
*
my Uji/Nara trips are,
Morning 6am at Fushimi Inari.
9am at Uji area.
12pm Nara. Todaiji Daibutsu, Nigatsudo, Tamukeyama Hachimangu, n Katsuga Taisha.
then return to Kyoto at night.

This is a hardcore jam packed day haha, 6am at Fushimi wow!
Nara feels like half a day, enough time to enjoy slowly if start at noon?
*
my 2nd uji/nara trip was
9am Uji
12pm Nara, Todaiji Daibutsu only.
Night Fushimi Inari.

n i mentioned before, very hard to enjoy Nara but easier to relax while enjoying at Uji.
since Nara is everyone choice, but not Uji, hence lesser crowd.
ppl from Osaka wont go Uji, only from Kyoto might.

the deer is nice for beginning but get annoying tho.

I'm doing Fushimi another day so I might drop by Uji before or after Nara depending on my timing.
Might also drop it completely if I can't finish Nara in a day.

Does the JR train stop by Uji? Or is it only via Kintetsu?
*
only Keihan n JR iinm. taking Keihan from Fushimi Inari seem need to change train tho.

Kintetsu? if ur goin from Osaka to Nara, skip Uji lo unless u wan make a trip there.
only from Kyoto to Nara, u pass Uji. Uji is closer to Kyoto than Nara.

Hi guys, I am going to Japan in December, got my flight and accommodation setup but I want to ask, what is the best unlimited data wifi provider for trips to Japan.

I checked Samurai Wifi, they have plans that are unlimited and without speed throttling and is reasonably priced, does anyone have here have experience with their services or any other competing brands?
*
QUOTE(MR_alien @ May 4 2019, 07:28 AM)
actually i was about to ask this question too
so far, the cheapest is wifibaby
but i'm not sure how reliable is their service
samurai wifi is the most expensive of all..RM18/day
*
Try frequently check their website for promo. so u can wait getting em until 1 month prior. same goes with the train passes etc (something tat cant sold out).
last time i gotten Travel Recommend due to any 2 JR pass (ANY, which include JR 1D kansai pass) free pocket wifi service.

1st time uses Travel Recommend so i can collect em at Penang Airport.
2nd time, tat any 2 JR passes offer. coz y not. we just cancel our previous pocket wifi with canceling price coz its still cheaper that way.

the service is good tho, both time never really fail me. except when i went to Nikko, at Ryuzu Fall area. it mountain area with lot of nature neway.

Also I have brought, subway unlimited ticket via klook,
Does this cover outskirt of tokyo? specifically the one I check via google I need to take Yokohama Line and Odakyu line and Fukutoshin Line.
*
Tobu 4 Days Nikko pass?
check the schedule here http://www.tobu.co.jp/foreign/en/using/timetable.html

Subway pass only cover the Tokyo Metro and Toei Subway. (if u mean the 24/48/72hrs pass)

QUOTE(Hitman190 @ May 4 2019, 03:33 PM)

hi buddy.. would like to have your view on morning / night timing on fushimi during autumn period.. which was your best experience?  biggrin.gif

any recommended places to visit for night views in kyoto ?
*
Fushimi Inari, both give different experience. try to do both if u can. my night time experience, unable to climb up til mid area overhead view of Kyoto city due to previous typhoon.
night time seem more beautiful. but my day time able to view Kyoto city.

night view? if u mean night illumination, i only visit Eikanko, Toji-ji n Kibuneyama's Kifune Jinjia + Momiji Tunnel.

Among all the paid temples in kyoto, which would be the most worthwhile to visit? Nanzenji, Tofukuji, Kinkakuji, Daigoji, etc.

Not to go in to pray but more to visiting the gardens and surroundings

Visiting this autumn mid to late November
*
i like Shosei-en Garden. very nice, not very crowded.

Yes did cross my mind but I am not sure about the traffic on a weekday morning between 7am-8am.
I've heard from some people that they were caught in a bad jam and almost missed their flight  blink.gif

As for the subway pass, yes just get a PASMO or SUICA as they are much cost effective.
*
my parent option last time is stay a night near Narita Airport. morning took a cab to the airport.
not sure which hotel tho.

i learn from their mistake, hence i choose Haneda flight instead.

QUOTE(TOMEI-R @ May 7 2019, 05:11 PM)
Take an earlier bus. Usually their timing are quite on time. This is no MY ma.  laugh.gif
*
they cant help traffic jam as well. i face late bus b4, upto hours. delaying my journey n trip. 1pm bus, 2+pm only came. 30 minutes ride become more than an hour.
i go out early from my destination n walk instead, its faster as well.

Experienced after dinner at Sukiya Asakusa, the cashier not able to recognise ICOCA I handed over to him. He had to consult with another staff then only able to choose the right payment mode on cashier machine. It happened at Bic Camera Akihabara Store as well. Nonetheless, cashier at Lawson Store was able to recognise it immediately. Hence it depends on individual actually.

Hi all sifu,

I'm going to Osaka in mid July for concert and this is my first time travelling to Osaka alone. I have some questions as below with my itinerary

11th - arrival 6am, free and easy
12th - free and easy
13th & 14th - concert day
15th - back to malaysia

1) is there any recommended stay near Osakajo hall? I heard airbnb is prohibited in Japan?
2) aware there are lots subway pass but since my stay is short, is it good for me to get the pass to move around in Osaka? I'm planning to visit Kyoto since it is near and short travel time.
3) any website or apps recommendation for train map? It is much more complicated compared to korea imo
4) is language barrier will make my trip difficult? example asking for directions etc
*
1) no comment where to stay, but airbnb is allowed. its just tat its not as cheap as before.
2) cant say since dun really know where u plan to go.
3) just use google map. it will tell u which train to take, which platform to go.
4) famous place will have english text written. if u know chinese, famous area like Dotonbori, the helper will speak mandarin to u.

thanks for this, so i think airbnb still can save some of my cost
2) cant say since dun really know where u plan to go.
as said above, i plan to go Kyoto or Kobe, or wherever along the same train line, any recommendation?
3) just use google map. it will tell u which train to take, which platform to go.
yeah i heard google maps works which give me a relieve
4) famous place will have english text written. if u know chinese, famous area like Dotonbori, the helper will speak mandarin to u.
this is great since i knew Dotonbori is a must visit..thank you

appreciate your reply
*
2) cant recommend any pass, Osaka to Kobe costs around 410yen per trip, to Kyoto around 560yen per trip.
Nara abit expensive tho 800yen. but i dunno if its justify to buy pass for it.
Kintetsu 5 day Rail pass cost around 3600 yen but dont cover Kobe (iinm). u can try calculate where u wan to go n see if it worth to get it.
