This thread might give you a bit of an idea - https://www.reddit.com/r/JapanTravel/commen...ing_a_reserved/

TLDR version: no there is no penalty but it's just bad form so please don't abuse the system. If you do happen to miss, try to immediately cancel it and book a new time.

Thanks for the link.

How about cancelling the reservation and book a new one if we arrived the station very much earlier?

Is this a norm or also something ppl frown upon?

Day 2: Day trip to Snow monkey park (what else to do here) hmm.gif

Day 3: Day trip to to Shiga Kogen

Day 4: Day trip to Nozawa onsen or Matsumoto? hmm.gif

hi jap experts,

planning to self drive around Lake Kwaguchiko, and the other lakes as public transport may not be as accessible in the more remote parts of that place.

have about 6 months more to the trip, and i am researching and reading on driving in japan rules and manners.

i came across this video, which the guy in the video actually went through a rest stop. I am wondering why is there an ETC card lane exiting the rest stop?
Do the japanese have to tag in and out of the rest stop?

Thank you in advance!
*
I have driven around Kawaguchiko and the surrounding lakes. I have never come across that place.

Can you show the link of the video?

If there is ETC card lane, most likely there is a toll booth nearby rather than a rest stop.

Hi everyone,

I just want to ask if you are NOT skiing, can you ride the chairlift up to the peak? (Referring to the ski resorts at Hakuba Valley, Shiga Kogen, and Ryuoo Ski Resort at Yudanaka).

Can you ride the chairlift up there, snap photos, then ride down later without skiing?

Is the JR East Service Centre at Haneda Airport always see a long queue?

Or should I go to another JR East Service Centre at other locations?

Just a small note here. Non skiers can normally take gondola 🚡 type lifts both up and down the mountain, but chair-type lifts are usually off limits (and even for skiers vast majority of chairlifts you won’t be allowed to sit down the slope, LLST need to ski down).

Of course there are exceptions and it depends on mountain but I’d say most resorts have one or two main gondolas that go up and end at a building of some sort with restaurant/cafeteria, viewing deck, an area to walk around and maybe even sledding or snow play areas for kids.

Ticket wise I think most resorts also allow you to buy a “return ticket” which should be quite cheaper than the daily passes the skiers and snowboarders use.

Wanna ask you whether a buttock pad is important as a knee pad for skiing?

Has anyone been to Inotani station before? (Located between Toyama and Takayama).

Because the transfer time shown is only 3 minutes.

How does anyone have time to transfer to another train in under 3 minutes? hmm.gif

Why not take Limited Express Train Hida? no need transfer.

The first ride is always 11.00am (everyday from Takayama to Toyama) for the Limited Express Hida Train.

I find it a bit late....to wait until 11am.

If you wanted to take slowest train like our KTM Commuter (09:40)
The transfer at Inotani Station just switch to platfrom from 2 to 1.
*
I see thanks flex.gif

So, basically platform 2 and 1 are at physically like next to each other like that?

Or is there a need to get out going through any barrier gates and need to come back again going through any barrier gates?

Hi everyone,

I'm planning to take a day trip to Shirakawago from Takayama.

Does anyone know whether one needs to reserve a carpark to visit Shirakawago during the daytime?

Bcos I read that one needs to reserve a carpark for the light-up event, so I wonder is it the same for day-time visit?

At the train stations in Japan, are you allowed to stop your car temporarily outside to load in luggages and to pick up/drop off passengers?

Or that's only allowed for taxi drivers?

Rough sketch of my Japan 2021 Autumn trip. Is this doable?

Not sure of the costs for the inter City transport and luggage forwarding service..
