Capsule Hotel nope. Dont think i'm keen to try, feels a little claustrophobic. In Midnight Diner, one of the character (an old lady) stayed in a capsule hotel for 1 night and as she lied down, she said, "This feels like lying in a coffin." Would personally opt for a dorm vs capsule.

I would be quite certain the female side of any onsen wont be as occupied compared to the male side. Japanesse and mainlander men have a real liking towards bathing naked together in small bathroom.
Regarding the capsule hotel, I think a much better and cheaper option would be the manga cafes. At least you have your own "room"/partition to yourself and your luggage.

You are a fan of Kam Wah's polo bau or what the hongkies call Polo Yau Bau means Polo Oily Bau which tastes really good but it can certainly pile on the kgs on you.

1. It's summer, and I don't like hot places for vacation.

Have no access to the male onsen guess I'll never know.
But generally so far, I've never had to share the onsen. Each time I use it, am pretty much on my own/ our own. Thus I guess pretty lucky so far.

Given an option, I'd prefer to sleep on a proper bed although yes, privacy from Cafe is much better. Pros and cons, depending on your personal preference hahaha. Usually luggage you'll have to place them in a locker, since the space is small.

Oh gosh yas the polo pau was so unexpectedly good I had to get another one for take-away after dining. Agree it's very oily and high in calorie, so max is only 2!! As travelers, we do walk a lot so take that fuel/ energy food in advance heh.

and #3. Expensive and scarce eg accommodation

I was in Tokyo during Raya and the weather was still cool and you would need a sweater sometimes. Tsuyu though would be a major inconvenience for travellers though.

Well, I got the ticket for Olympics football match in Sapporo. Will try to buy ticket for Tokyo one as well .

Yeah i agree the tokyo accomodation will double but we can always stay outside Tokyo, like Yokohama or kanagawa instead of in the center of Tokyo. Just have to spend longer time on train.

Guys, i can't find any other thread about this so i'm just gonna ask here.

i'm trying to rent a portable wifi for my Japan trip (via Klook) so the rental day will count by Departure day until Arrival day.
The thing is that my departure time is on 11 Sep 12:30am, so which mean i can only pick up the device on 11 Sep 12:00am or i can actually pick up a few hours before .e.g 10 Sep 11:00pm?

just worry i might not able to make it to the Gate if i only picking up my device on 12:00am

12.30AM flight, u should already starting to enter the departure gate by 11.30AM already
u have to pickup earlier(if possible)
and u can set when are u going to pick it up and drop it off

whatever time u pick it up, they already counted as 1 day, it makes no difference the time u pick it up
