PTD or Pegawai Tadbir dan Diplomatik can be considered as one of the most exclusive position in the civil service.

PTD officers are the one will eventually hold key government positions that include KSU (Ketua Setiausaha), Director General (Ketua Pengarah), District Officer (DO) and Setiausaha Kerajaan Negeri.

PTD is one of the earliest posts introduced in the Malaysian civil service which started back in 1904. It was first known as Malaysian Home and Foreign Services (MHFS), then changed to Pegawai Tadbir & Diplomatik (PTD) as we know today. The PTD officers are involved in the country development at all levels.

They are responsible in strengthening the country administration function, social infrastructure development, economy and the industrial. In other words, it is one of the most important portfolios before the country embraced and emphasize on the private sector. As the name sounds, some of the PTD officers are also sent as the country diplomatic representative and are based in the Malaysian embassies abroad. But that’s not all about PTD. Apart from the international diplomatic representation, the PTD also consists of the following fields, namely:

International Relation

National Security and Defense

Information Technology and Communication Management

Administration and Development

Human Resources and Organizational Management

Financial Resources and Management

im still wondering why this skim still exists nowdays? some not even competent on the job (cant blame them coz kena campak to any dept) and gomen are paying big buck our tax money for their salary.. other skim like being anak tirikan coz hard to get promotion thx to the ptd grabbing most of the management job

JD sounds a lot like a fast-tracked management trainee for civil service. Takde cable... queue up like the rest of the peasants.

I personally know people who tried 5 times and 7 times before getting selected, takde cable. Fresh grad also ada. So it is not impossible to get selected w/o cable.

People with cable do not normally admit they have cable... cause it sorts of undermine their capability (or lack of it). Cable can be their own connections, bapak punya... or his/her long distance uncle.

The JD sort of suggest it is sort of a shortcut to higher management position, bypassing the normally slow progression in the civil service. More likely than not, it would be reserved for those they want to go up and hold certain key position. Perhaps for a rare lucky few commoners will manage to sneak in if the quota is not filled...

Dunno what to comment about how to get this job. I've got friend who got this job due to his credibility and own effort while I also got relative who got this job because coincidently, the gomen officer who interviewed her is actually her previous boss when she work in other division.

no need ptd.. just become macai and contest in general election. When you win, all ptd officers has to bow to you..

This one you either have to have super thick cable or you are Prabakaran

CG starts from 52 ... ambassador / HC starts from 54 for small missions.

Basically means you’re not qualified la. Can keep trying though.
