How is Unifi IPTV yea? Planning to just combo with my Unifi internet when I go ask for SWU3.0 at TM point. Going to just drop Astro altogether. The only streaming services I have interest is Netflix, Disney Hotstar, HBO GO, iQIYI, and maybe WeTV. Others don't seem to have much use for me.

iQiyi is good. My wife watches it. I watch Bein Sports (channel & app) for F1.

Other stuff I don't watch but have the STB on standby just in case.

Netflix, Disney+ and HBO Go can get for free from ppl who have Astro but who doesn't use the apps. Likewise Disney+ can get from Unifi subscribers who don't watch UnifiTV. (or HBO Go if conversion is performed)
*
My mom likes to watch those chinese dramas and Netflix does not have much at all, which is why she watches the astro we have that is based on the chinese channels. Buta-buta paying RM85 per month just for those chinese channels, might as well get rid of it. iQiyi good enough? Not sure whether should think of getting WeTV together with it.

I don't think my astro has access to those streaming services, its some old chinese channel package. Seems the discussion is that UnifiTV is better as AstroGO is a pain in the ass?

wud hv been nice if u had gone n checked before Sep 30.

no more promo prices, reverted to normal.

if u r fussy about picture quality, take note:

Of all the vod apps I hv used, I wud rank the PQ:

1. Netflix
2. Disney+
3. Iqiyi/WeTV
4. HBOgo
5. BBC player
6. Lionsgate
7. Viu
bolded... astrogo is pain in the ass... unless u mean mobile devices. very few devices can do on TV.

i think they want it that way... make u pay fr multi-room passes.

ok... this isn't ASSteruk thread, i stop. laugh.gif
*
Yeah its unfortunate, I was waiting for Fahmi to announce something to see whether there is any affect on Unifi. Maybe this week there will be some annoucement? lol

I'm only concerned with the top 4 you mentioned in your PQ list. In fact, I highly doubt I would even use any of the other channels that UnifiTV even offers. I suppose its going to be how they offer the broadband package and UnifiTV during walk-in visits. In the broadband thread, there is a SWU3.0 package at RM179/month that comes with 500mbps and the new ultimate pack (without netflix).

iQiyi is a compromise, I guess. I think my wife probably prefers watching TVB stuff. You can also get complete TVB series from the TVBAnywhere Youtube channel but the old ones lah.

Never tried WeTV bcos they don't have AppleTV app.

If yr mum wants canto dramas... iqiyi, WeTV, mangotv or netflix won't do the job. That, u stay with astro, tvb anywhere.

For mainland China mandarin drama, yes, they r the best.
*
QUOTE(amirul hafizz @ Oct 1 2023, 09:58 PM)
if you really like chienese drama, better got TVBEverywhere. Many more chienese drama and entertainment.
*
She predominantly watches mainland chinese dramas nowadays I think. Perhaps best I just get iQiyi first, then only add on WeTV or TVBanywhere if it is insufficient. RM9.90 for iQiyi/WeTV, and RM16.00 for TVBanywhere.

Damn I really miss the promo during September as there isn't any good ones now with UnifiTV. Probably have to subscribe streaming services individually as its cheaper compared to what UnifiTV has now.

w/o promo prices, it'll probably work out to be much the same either way.

not much advantage or disadvantage overall.

maybe u can add standalone for a couple, see if any promo coming for year end, xmas, cny, etc...
*
I only really concern myself with streaming services since I will almost never use the TV channels. The streaming services where I compared prices of standalone to UnifiTV are Netflix, Disney+ Hotstar, HBO GO, iQiyi, and WeTV.

They actually still have the Old Ultimate Plus Pack (without HBO GO) on offer to bundle with SWU3.0 for RM69. However, if I plus the add-ons required it will balloon to RM138 (RM69 pack + RM27 Netflix Premium + RM9.90 iQiyi + RM9.90 WeTV + RM24.90 HBO GO). The 5 streaming services on it's own would be about RM115. But of course, UnifiTV also comes with other streams and TV channels included, but again, I will hardly or never even use.

If you call them maybe they can do some magic.

TM point also tak nak kasi me already, maybe can try online chat and call haha LOL.

QUOTE(AVFAN @ Oct 5 2023, 04:47 PM)
right, i m of the same attitude - i dun watch the linear channels much, watch mostly the VODs.

which was why i didn't hesitate to take the promo ultimate max +netlfix 4k rm10.

RM100 for all of that, i m quite happy. A good dinner or drinks these days is >rm100! laugh.gif
*
Yeah damn, yours is a good deal for all the stuff. I only started checking all this SWU and UnifiTV at the very end of September, not enough time to make decision. Sadgeee... cry.gif

Its funny, in the chat options before joining live chat, Ultimate Max Pack is still RM89.90. But of course, on live chat itself with CS, it's RM134.90. Does anyone here know other options perhaps, other than UnifiTV?

HBOGo is poor... so poor that i hardly watch it anymore.

picture is 720p; audio DD+ option is also poor, DD comes out better.... strange.

on the other hand, Disney+H dd+ audio is good, with 4kHDR picture.

best of all is Netflix 4K - 4kHDR, Atmos audio - this is the best thing u get from Ultimate Max +RM10 for netflix 4k. thumbsup.gif
*
Is HBO GO itself intentionally bad or is it UnifiTV's problem? 720p on a large screen TV is lol.

i read someone said it is 1080p if u pay for standalone HBOgo.
*
Should be minimum 1080p based on what I search online. I mean 720p in 2023 is lol. Did you ask Unifi if 720p is intentional or momentarily for HBO GO?

i haven't asked them.

but seems everyone on ultimate is getting 720p.... crap. sad.gif

I'm waiting for UnifiTV team to call after raising inquiry regarding TV plans. If HBO GO is legit 720p on UnifiTV, I'm not gonna consider it lol.

You guys think its okay if I just get Ruby Plus Pack (also comes with MangoTV) + add on iQiyi for chinese related shows only? It'll cost about RM40 I think. For older parents wanting to watch chinese stuff only. This option is also cheaper than Astro.

Is good idea. if like tvb then can add on tvbanywhere. last time this app price rm19.90 now they reduce the price to rm9.90 only.
*
It seems TVBanywhere+ got three types (channel, VOD, premium). Ruby Plus pack also provide the VOD version for the pack, on top of the MangoTV.

I thought even the Ruby Plus Pack gets the Unifi TV Box for free if I sign contract? CS mention I still have to add on Unifi TV Box for RM20 per month lmao.

Guys, just to clarify. TVB Anywhere+ Premium is the one that is basically a streaming app similar to Netflix right? Whereas VOD is the ability to record the channels and watch it in your own time, and of course Channel is just watching whatever is on at the time.

Premium will last till 29 Feb, which after that should default back to VOD.

I must say Unifi TV is kinda aggresive recently

Recently, like last week? They push free Netflix standard (still not cheap) for new subscribers & existing subscriber of 300Mbps and above (need to renew contract tho)

This week they push TVBAnywhere+ & leaked rumour some never in Msia before OTT will be announced this week as well
*
Netflix standard for free for 300Mbps and above? Website I see the only one with Standard Netflix is the RM198 per month 500Mbps? Those below is basic.

My apology

BASIC..

still I see them pressing on and willing to give on top of current package

Saw the page even 100Mbps new customer is also getting Netflix basic

Existing IINM only 300Mbps will get with contract renewal..
*
QUOTE(Iptvfan @ Jan 15 2024, 08:25 PM)
Yes they promote like crazy 300speed get free netflix rm139. Is basic but if want more premium can just top up
*
Netflix Basic worth about RM28. So you're paying RM111 for 300Mbps internet (139-28). Hmm okay I guess? I'm on SWU3.0 which gave me 500Mbps for RM119, without Netflix of course.

Price for VAR pack also will increase

Why VAR will increase to RM45? Any special reason since the other two seems to remain at RM30?

TM keeps on telling me that I can't add on UnifiTV because I'm on SWU3.0. Isn't the UnifiTV a separate service to the broadband? I remember when I was signing up for SWU3.0, even if I did add UnifiTV back then, the UnifiTV will not be part of the bill waiver or discounts lol. Aren't they separate contracts too?

They don't want your money

Jokes aside, I think they have made UnifiTV and Unifi as a single package to get more people to sign up to Unifi, as other ISPs are cheaper
*
Damn, I need to wait 2 years till the SWU3.0 contract expires just to get UnifiTV? LMAO
