I am replying to my own post. As it seems, the protection scheme used by TM apk is very nasty. I just decompile and compile it back ( without changing any code ), it will automatically fail to work.

Looks like it is detecting something about originality of its own apk, and conpared with what is stored on the server. I would need to go down quite deep into the code to see if that can be fooled.

So don't bother to pm me for now. LOL.

I believe there is config in manifest file,
it a setting to add icon for Android TV launcher.
(after u add, the app will show at the TV home screen)

if u able to add, I test it for u...

Adding icon is not the issue I am talking about.

I suspect the apk is doing md5sum integrity check of its own file originality and compare it with what's stored somewhere else .....

I saw from unifi community, so just copy and paste in here.

However don't take so high hope for it "until you saw it by your own eyes"..
If seriously really implement and launch those channels, I guess it's time to say bye bye to capital A company (U know what I mean, so not need sI mention in here.. cool2.gif )

Right now I am stuck already. Because I just decompile, recompile, I did not touch any code, it already stops working. The only logical explanation is that the developer who wrote this app for TM, has built in a nasty protection mechanism to block any changes to the apk. Not to say it is impossible to hack it, but certainly requires deeper understanding of the code.

Has any mod the this app existed before ?

I guess for movies might be at Ultimate pack. (similar like Fox movies)
While others, not sure.. Might be also same Ultimate pack or Jumbo pack..

Good question.

I have never come across a modified version.

Never had to... official pad version always work on my devices... as long as unrooted and wifi active.

Guess some boxes have unique issues in their firmwares...

Someone PM-ed me a modded APK, thanks, but it suffers the same problem as I am facing.

There is anti-hacking feature built into this app working together with TM servers.

As soon as one de-compiles and re-compiles back into apk, the servers will refuse to provide the service. To spoof that, one has to get the original TM signature/hash and feed them back to tm servers .... or something like that.

The anti-hacking is a lot more elaborate than the current AstroGo. But it is fun to see how this anti-hacking can be beaten. Magisk is still a better answer for those who want root and this app together.

They used the word loyal... dunno how they define.

But not surprised if it means 10 year old customer.. it is 10 years for me this year.

Last time I knew that company As*** has exclusive rights on HBO channels. If Unifi Tv got this channel next month then it will be surprising
