The management of The Fish Bowl would like to respond to the FaceBook posting of Ms. Cheryl Anne-Marie Nicholas on 21st January 2019.
On behalf of the management of The Fish Bowl, I would like to inform that all employees irrespective of their race, creed or religion, local and foreign alike are treated with utmost respect and equality at work or after working hours. Their salaries also commensurate with their job descriptions and we give rewards and incentives for their job commitments and dedication through the years with the company. We treat all employees like family members.
To the accusation by Ms. Cheryl, we would like to clarify that our manager has explained explicitly to the ex-staff, Mr. Mannan Muhammad Umair the reasons for with-holding his salary.
This is due to his actions. He had resigned but however he didn’t set the date and time for him to go back to the company’s hostel to retrieve his personal belongings. Since he had resigned and did not have the main door house keys, it has resulted in him breaking the back door to gain access while at that time the restaurant staff were busy at work and could not assist him. However, he had the honesty to notify one of our working staff of the said incident. To this we are grateful. Nonetheless, the very act of breaking into the hostel was a security breach and considered a criminal act.
Unfortunately, this incident and the overall circumstances were misinterpreted by his friends who were around him at that moment and which prompted Ms. Cheryl to upload her posting on FB. To this, we feel that it is unfair for her to do so without counter checking Nor confirming the facts with our management. These are false accusations from Ms. Cheryl.
Furthermore, we have kindly asked Ms. Cheryl and her friends to kindly leave the office so that we could address the issue accordingly with Mr. Umair because there were other staff present in the office and their wellbeing and security was our utmost priority. We would also like to reaffirm that under no circumstances did we utter derogatory words nor stir any form of racial sentiments publicly when addressing the situation.
The FB posting by Ms. Cheryl has directly or indirectly tarnished our image as a caring corporate, social & responsible company.
Thus, we have no choice but to lodge a police report. We are also considering taking legal proceedings to all the involved parties. As such we advise Ms. Cheryl to immediacy remove her FB posting and all other related materials with an apology on the social media in order to avoid any unnecessary legal action to be taken. We invite Ms. Cheryl and Mr. Umair to a constructive meeting with our management to positively resolve this matter.
Lastly, I would like to take this opportunity to thank all our customers old & new for your continuous support of The Fish Bowl and we look forward to serving you by our warm and friendly staffs with our delicious food and nutritious drinks.
Thank you,
Aaron Lim
