There is a Counter Strike tournament coming right up in conjunction with Asia Game Zone Games Exhibition and it will be open to amateur teams! Why, you ask? Because its called the Amateur Cup.

Counter Strike 1.6 Amateur Cup Tournament

32 max teams and you need to sign up as fast as possible because the registration fees will be RM 50 for teams that register before the 25th of June 12 pm. For late teams, the registration fees will be RM 100 instead.

You can grab the registration forms here and send them to admin[at]asiancybergames[dot]com. The registration forms are in pdf format but you can still copy out the text and fill them in. Please, only send .doc, .rtf or .txt file formats only.

Lastly, print the forms out for your hard copy to be handed in during the tournament day itself.

Complete details of each team member, including substitutions must be submitted. Incomplete registrations will be considered null and void.

E-mailing in your team's registration is to book a spot, ala a "pre-registration".

If you are confirmed attending the Tournament, you can pay onsite, during the event day itself.

how do they filter the teams to see if they are amateurs or not ?

how do u determine if its an amateur team or not ? is it based on the team overall (no teams who achieved top3 before) or the players (players who has been in a top3 team) ?

So you consider yourself an amateur then zirconium ? You were part of PwyH till recently and not to mention, your team did get 2nd at the Matahari CC tournament and 4th at SPDC.

sniggy also got lumped into the banlist even though he has since left Hybrid.

nitroN got banhammered since he won KCG with DiV.

Yes we should have posted it earlier, but the decision on who gets banhammered was not ultimately decided by me alone.

Yes and no. How so ?

Let me explain:

Yes, it is open to malaysian teams only. Meaning "pure" foreign teams are ineligible to participate. E.g: A Singaporean team with all 5 members from Singapore.

But I will allow only a single foreigner to join a malaysian team, on a case by case basis.

4 Malaysians + 1 Foreigner Only. No exceptions.

Also, the key phrase here being "on a case by case basis". If I discover any team with a foreigner that is actually Tentpole or Heaton, I will not hesitate to disqualify the said team.

Likewise, this is an amateur tournament, I know we have a fair bit for teams itching to play. But lets keep this tournament as it is: let the amateurs have a crack at having some tourney experience, instead of getting raped 16 - 0 in the 1st round and its kthxbai for them.

ya ya, should let amateur have experience of being champion lah, always those few team champion and grab the price, not fun also.

Double Elimination format for Round of 16 onwards.

Yes round time will be at 3 minutes. The purpose of both the Amateur Cup seasons are to allow new teams to get some tourney experience. The changes in the R&R reflect that.

No doubt some of the teams that will be taking part are considered "seasoned" just that they never did make it to the top three before. We do believe that there will be newbie teams participating and this tournament will be their platform to do so.

Better to allow them to have more round time to execute their strats and tactics in a tournament environment so that they can improve on their overall team and individual skills. This rule change could go either way, so we'll just have to see how it plays out during the tournament.

Likewise, same with allowing ghost talking, its to allow the teams to learn how to communicate/report better. I see alot of newbie teams clamp up and stop reporting when one of them gets warned for ghost talking and it eventually affects their gameplay as no one ends up reporting anything.

I wonder why everyone complains about cbble, but not nuke or train. Hmm ?

Cbble got removed from most major tournaments' map pool, wasnt due to the fact that its an inherently imbalanced map.

It was because of the reduction of the round time that cause it to be come imbalanced. Due to the fact that cbble is a huge map, teams no longer had enough time to fake a bombsite and rush to the other bombsite to plant.

So the general strat for cbble de-generated into hard rushing a single bombsite, before the round time ran out. And that was when cbble became imba.

Round time for the tournament is now at 3 minutes. I do not foresee a problem with cbble in the map pool now.

So flip, want me to put you into the banlist since your team got 1st at Matahari ? Then zicronium can say he lol'ed after he saw someone mentioning Matahari again.

thanks doug, for explaining the reason for the 3mins. but cbble is actually more imbalanced compared to train & nuke imho.

maybe roundtime 3 minutes for cbble is acceptable but if we want them to train to become more professional we should stick to original R&R 2minutes lets see how they manage the round time well.

since we are trying to bring "us amatures" to a better cs standard, dun you guys think we should follow at least what maps the "professionals" play? why bother playing a map that is not in the "professional" compy. anyway i think less maps are better for "us amatures" since we do not need to train so much maps.

why dont just let the "amatures" vote whether to get cbble in or not? at least we will know what the majority thinks. but i guess is impossible. too much work, voting isnt efficient, and arghhhhhhh, just put in tat map. at least this tourney gives chances to players to win instead of the same few names. go go amature league !!

why start on friday ? do u guys even consider tat some newbie team oso still got school and some still in college ? they all not like all the pros hv to leave all everything and concentrate on cs. I think the organizer should reconsider this tournament starting time.
