If a person has extensive J2EE experience up until early 2010s, meaning he is quite familiar with Servlets and JSP. But has since stopped from active development, how would this skill be still relevant today and what should the career pursuer do if he wants to catch on into the IT world?

Should still be applicable just bit more difficult to negotiate a better salary as they don't have project experience.

I see nowadays Java spring is needed in most implementations. Also node.js for FE for BE... Better keep up though, times are changing fast.

if you really are familiar with j2ee, implied by you mentioning extensive experience then it is a snap to pickup where you left off.
what changed is the tools and framework but underlying concept remains same.
but if what you mastered were tools and framework.. then time to roll up your sleeves and start learning laugh.gif
