Hi guys,

Just wanted to ask if anyone has been able to find a working coin counting machine for either CIMB or Maybank in Selangor they have used recently?

I have gone to 4 different bank branches and so far their machines are either broken or no longer available (CIMB Kelana Jaya, CIMB Bukit Tinggi, CIMB KLIA, CIMB Section 52).

Thanks in advance.

Go to any mamak, coffeshop, provision shops around your area and they just love your coins.

I regularly change my accumulated coins ranging from RM50 above to RM200. Pack in RM50 just in case one shop cannot take all.

When you exchange coins with bank, charges apply.

Unless you need coins, then you have to go to the bank.

This.
I sometimes paid my rm10 mamak lunch with 10 sen and 20 sen coins, and the cashier happily accepts them coins.
But i counted the coins in front of the cashier la.
Not like it's any extra job for them.

May I suggest you to open a ca or sa with public bank? there is one public bank branch in front of sunway pyramid which got coin deposit machine. but since the machine is located inside the branch I think you can only make deposit during banking hours

or u can check the list here

CIMB bank at BU8 has a working coin machine. I deposited RM500 worth of coins a month ago.

TIP: Go at 915 am when the bank opens. They will only clear the machine at the end of the day. You'll get the cash in your account within 2 business days

Dont bother TS. I have tried a few coin deposit machines around damansara, biggest waste of time and effort:

1) you have to go during office hours! Thats right, no idea why they put the coin machine inside the building when they have cash deposit and cheque machine at outside on 24/7.

2) And if you manage to squeeze in time to visit these banks during office hours. Its still all luck. 4 out of 5 working days the machine is either spoilt or already full. Apparently the machine can only accept a certain amount of coins in a day. If its full come back the next day. They say the golden time is 9.30am or 10am when the banks are just open. Lol this makes it seem like we queuing for some early iphone launch.

3) and if you manage to get a functional machine, dont be overjoyed yet. When you feed the machine, the thing may get too heavy or if it feels theres a discrepancy on one of ur coins, it will eject all out. And you have to continue feed it little by little till it accepts all. Phewwww worst experience ever.

My suggestion: everytime u wanna go mamak for your breakfast or a tehtarik, put a few grabs of coin to a tote bag and let the mamak count for you while you enjoy your meal. They will let you countercheck the stacks once they are done segregrating. Of course be smart, and choose those mamak that you think are more trustworthy. It will be win win. They are happy to get free supply of coins, u get to dispose yours. Sometimes they will even give you a discount on ur tehtarik.

here is the link to all CDM (Coin deposit machine) throughout Malaysia.

http://www.bnm.gov.my/documents/2014/CoDM_location.pdf

take notes on the limit of CDM usage.. and this machince quite frequent "out of order" .. I normally go to the HQ such as Maybank Tower near Pudu.. their machine always tip top condition.
Cimb worst.. never had any chance to try out.. always got issue with the machine.

Any1 here tried the Tesco Coin Deposit machine?

yes, i once tried to use the CDM at CIMB, for some reasons the machine doesn't allow coins to be deposited to my account, but it worked when I deposited coins to someone else's account. staff told me that this will never be solved.

but of course, like what others are saying, the CDM do not work most of the time. I tried Public Bank once, went there a few times, and was told that the machine was broken. The bank doesn't know when the machine will be fixed as they have to order the parts from China.
