I recommend D40X, extra money spend on lense.

why don't you read up the rest of the threads first?

do you really need DSLR for your subject?

what kind of photography will you be doing for the subject?

do you intend to keep the camera after your project?

A used Nikon D70(body) at RM1500-1700 should do the job already loh.

Or a used KM5D kit is also available at similar price.

D40 kit + 55-200mm VR, just nicely RM3k and cover all the 18-200 range

erm, im so sorry 4 d inconvenience, im in a hurry actually, so i tot by posting dis topic would giv me a quick n effective tips or guide on d current manner..
btw, i do need an DSLR for my subject (as stated in my course outline), im not quite sure wut kind of photography i will be involve wit ( sweat.gif sounds kindda stupid, sori), n i am gonna keep d camera after my project coz eventually i'm in d video production business (my part-time activity *wedding, events etc), so sooner or later im gonna squeeze sum profits from dis camera, hopefully, heheh!

neway, sorry 4 any inconvenience, im a noob in dis arena, peace~ icon_rolleyes.gif

d first model ive been look up to was canon 400D, but i've read a thread saying that its LCD wont last long, the owner doesnt use his 400D for about 2-3months when suddently he realized that his 400D LCD is out of service.. hmm~ im currently considering Nikon D40X..

i agree with gadget freak, with ur budget, better get a d40 + 55-200 lens or sb600 flash, rather than buying d40x kit lens

if you do not wish to further invest into lens the near future, the d40x + 55-200vr would be your best bet for rm3k.

However, if your budget increases in the near future, you can consider canon's 400D kit, or d80kit even, or even other brands such as Sony Alpha, Pentax, Olympus...etc
