Hi guys, am planning to have my wedding dinner in around October and am now on the hunt for a suitable location. Requirements are of course price, preferably max cap at 1.2k nett per table, am planning around 25 tables or so with around 2-3 tables HALAL for my colleagues and other Muslim friends. Plan to have beer and wine but no hard liquor for the guests.

So far shortlisted and visited

1. Dynasty Dragon Summit USJ - So far the cheapest option, menu seems decent, halal menu seems depressing, but I can opt for external catering and the guy told me they charge extra RM150 per table if external caterer. Location is good since it is nearby my house, ballroom is nothing to shout about, but nothing exactly wrong about it either other than the low ceiling. Buy 10 table free 1, free house wine for each table. Nil corkage charge for liquor, wine and beer. So far have no friends or family who had personally attended a wedding there or ate there recently, so no idea on the quality of food.

2. Grand Harbour Da Men Mall USJ - Food costs more but I had heard good reviews about the food. Ballroom looks very nice and presentable. Their 'Halal' food selection though seems to be a problem. They offered me their 'Halal' food from MyThai downstairs but after some checking, MyThai does not have a Halal certificate though the person at the restaurant claims that their food is 'halal' in terms of ingredients and preperations I guess. They do not have halal cert apparently due to the fact that they serve alcohol. Also getting external caterers might be an issue as the lady told me they will charge extra RM500 per table if I were to hire an external caterer. I also do not qualify for their cheapest menu as I do not meet the minimum required tables.

3. Noble Mansion Plaza 33 - Hall looks very nice as well, I had heard good things about the food here but if I were to choose here it will be the cheaper menu option. Halal menu looks depressing as well, forgot to ask how much they charge if I were to hire external caterers. The day I want they only have the Lunch slot available as someone else had taken the dinner slot.

Also went to look at Oversea Restaurant in Subang Parade but sadly they had already closed for business. Am planning to look at Moon Palace in Puchong tomorrow. Am open to suggestions, any other decent chinese restaurants around the area that serve good food and decently priced? Also would like suggestions on Certified HALAL catering. Google brought me to Teaffani, will message them tomorrow and ask for quotation.

Thanks guys

Some of the places i have attended Chinese wedding and noticed Malays attendees: (no guarantee it is halal certified though)

1. Ruyi & Lyn bangsar.
2. Holiday villa subang.
3. Elite seafood section 13.

Thanks for the suggestions, will check them out.

Chinese restaurants surely won't be halal certified, only question is the caterers hired for the halal tables only whether the in-house recommended caterers are halal certified or not, else I would seek external halal certified caterers.

Been to a wedding in One City - E City Hotel, might want to try them out perhaps?
*
Thanks for the suggestion, had contacted them and waiting for their sales team to get back to me for the Chinese wedding package. They have no information of it on their website and calling their receptionist he just asked me to leave my contact number for their sales team to get back to me. But looking at pictures, it really does looks like a very nice place to have a wedding dinner, just hope the price is right icon_rolleyes.gif

Ruyi... their nasi lemak/chicken rice sushi... really PUKE leh... and that place looks like a nightclub..

Holiday villa... the food so so.. the place also nothing to should about..

Elite seafood.. that place looks... very chinese wedding like hahaha (not a good thing)..

@ TS.. go try something with a nicer setting? Maybe Banker's Club?
*
Ruyi, aren't they under the same company as Noble Mansion? Food should be the same no?

Thanks on the feedback on Holiday Villa, was considering looking at them too.

Elite seafood, looking at their menu seems OK-OK la. Very chinese wedding like I think normal gua for these chinese restaurant laugh.gif

Looks like halal catering might be an issue, so far contacted Teaffani and they could not provide for my request, Big Onion Catering refused because it will be held at a non-halal venue.

How about Oriental Pavilion at Jaya 33?
*
Had a look at that place already, there's a giant doughnut in the middle laugh.gif

Same parent company as Noble Mansion, so same food, just different hall. I rather pick Noble Mansion than Oriental Pavillion if I were to choose either these 2 wink.gif

Try these:

1. Bukit Kiara Equestrian Club
2. Sime Darby Convention Center
3. Tropicana Golf & Country Club

Thanks for the suggestion, will give them a look and see though those suggestions do sound expensive laugh.gif

ever think of a private function at cafe or something..?
*
I think roughly 25 tables, would be too much to handle for a cafe or something sweat.gif

QUOTE(Enjoise @ Jan 18 2019, 07:54 AM)
super tanker

Yeah checked them out also, pricing slightly on the high side I guess, but I heard nothing but good reviews about the place! Might check them out in person soon.

Starlight.. food is great..
*
Thanks, will check them out soon!

QUOTE(tahfeikei @ Jan 18 2019, 10:21 AM)
pls dun hold it there.....
1. quality gone down
2. service bad
TS try Empire Hotel...they have a ballroom
*
Thanks for your comment! When was the last time you went there?

Checked Empire Hotel, their prices are really on the steep side starting at 1688 sweat.gif

QUOTE(aquila @ Jan 18 2019, 11:27 AM)
For my first marriage I did at Banker's Club, can recommend. Wasn't that expensive and they were flexible enough to quickly whip up another table due to some shenanigans on the relatives side. Food was decent and the place is much better than a chinese restaurant in terms of ambience.

Edit: This was at least seven years ago though so keep that in mind tongue.gif.
*
Yeah photos really looks very nice, but the menu prices are also on the steep side now priced at 1488, 1688 and 1888. But I really have to admit, the place does look really nice thumbup.gif

Will be surveying with my wife tomorrow, but looks like now leaning more to Moon Palace and E City Hotel in One City. One City because the ballroom and environment looks nice, good for photography session before the actual wedding dinner, but just worried about the food quality only. Though if I hold it at E City Hotel, the halal food thing will be a non-issue.

Thanks guys! Keep them suggestions rolling!

empire hotel...i was there for some function, not wedding

try also Imperial China, SS17...food better than oriental jaya 33

Checked Empire hotel prices, their pricing is on the high side, don't think can afford there sweat.gif

Interesting you recommend Imperial China. If I hold it there it will be quite convenient as it is very near my house. Had you attended a wedding dinner there before recently?

Hi, there congratz on your wedding.

You may try this The Mutiara Palace @ Mutiara Damansra.

Look for Miss Lily (captain).
*
Thank you! Will check the place out! Online menu looks not bad RM1188 can get lobster already!

QUOTE(AvenueX @ Jan 18 2019, 03:17 PM)
Try copper mansion
*
Thanks for the suggestion! The price is on the high side though, don't think I can afford that place sad.gif

Been Noble mansion, the food was great but its hard to get a car park there
*
Thank you! I had heard nothing but good reviews for Noble Mansion so far, looks like I really have to consider that place now laugh.gif

QUOTE(Pete the great @ Jan 18 2019, 04:16 PM)
Noble Mansion food there very nice.

But the one next to noble mansion in Jaya 33 even better in terms of food. If you want to get 25 table booking there, good luck.

Both are under the same chain of restaurants
*
Yeap they are the same company. So interesting that the food tastes different eventhough they're the same company hmm.gif Though the doughnut in the middle really looks funny laugh.gif

I recall going to a wedding of one dude to Banker's club.

He blody put me in a table full of strangers.

then after his wedding (we were in the same religious club together), he start to blurt out he didn't want to get involve in committee, and he is a person who believe friends are shit. I really regret going for his wedding and giving RM 130 ang pau.
*
Errr... Interesting story? sweat.gif laugh.gif

So why did he put you in a table full of strangers? Or that wedding memang most people are strangers to you anyway? laugh.gif

Really thanks for your suggestion man! Visited the place today with my S.O. Quite impressed with their theme and layout with white seat covers, more western feel compared to the more traditional chinese feel of many other restaurants and the price is really very decent indeed! Currently I think I'm leaning heavily to Mutiara Palace now and they seem to be really hot, October is fully taken for Saturdays, November is almost fully taken and most probably I'll be booking in December if I decide to go with Mutiara Palace in the end. Person who dealt with me was a lady named Angel whom on the day itself, she will be the chinese Emcee.

As you can see, even the cheapest 988 menu also damn worth already with suckling pig but most probably willl top up slightly for the 1088 menu with pork ribs and grouper fish. Beer also quite decent price at RM15.80/large bottle.

QUOTE(tahfeikei @ Jan 19 2019, 08:47 AM)
imperial china....wedding function---never but birthday makan got, many times
*
Went there earlier today, honestly the hall was one of our favourite as it is large with no pillars, aircond was cold, 2x projectors not too bad. Only thing put us off is the sub-par menu. Need to get to RM1488 set only got suckling pig. If only the menu was nicer, confirm choose Imperial China already.

QUOTE(Pete the great @ Jan 19 2019, 05:59 PM)
I got at least 2 tables of people I knew but because I was single back then and he had to squeeze the people mismatch. Bottom line is do not do that to ur wedding guests.

That's why nowadays I am allergic to wedding invitations
*
Thanks for the comment! Will definitely try not to do that to my guests when it comes to arranging the seats.

Just curious, what is your budget?
*
Roughly 1k per table.

Anyway, update again. Most probably will be doing my wedding at Hee Lai Ton PJ, Sunday Lunch. Went there and immediately fell in love with their hall lust.gif lust.gif

That restaurant damn hot for booking, dinner event fully booked for this year all the way until next year dunno when, and if i book a dinner spot also they say if they got another booking with more tables than me will give them the big hall and give me the small hall which i feel if take the small hall then not worth it already. But if i take lunch they will lock in my booking for the big hall.

Some photos of the hall lust.gif

Their beer also cheap at RM16/large bottle, wine and liquor no corkage.
