Hello fellow Malaysians! So I'm a SPM 2018 candidate and I was selected by IPTS for a scholarship programme. This took place in Pejabat MARA so it's definitely not a scam but still very suspicious, so the University they offered is Linton University College in Mantin, Negeri Sembilan. I have no idea if they are governmental or a private institution, I also don't know what courses I want to take nor have interest in yet, so I'm in a real difficult position to decide immediately.

Apparently, they said they are offering me a 3 months training programme to help decide which course to take on 19.02.2019 after Chinese New Year. They also said I need to maintain the grade of 3.0 which I'm not familiar with in University terms, is this like A- and above grade? If my grades drop below it my scholarship is over. Moreover, they also require me to get 2A - 5A to get a 50% scholarship or 6A - 10A 100% scholarship. I have to past my Sejarah but in my Trial SPM 2018 I failed it, why are they offering me something that feels like a dream when my classmate are way better than me? None of my classmate were chosen. Other than that, I have to give them an answer on 19.01.2019 but they said it's on Friday. I am very confused by this.

So since to too good to be true, my family expected that the University that is offering the scholarship is a bad one, but is it? Can you guys tell me what is the most rational and logical thing to do right now? Should I accept and drop out later when I don't like it ? But I also need to sign a contract? Any help is appreciated!

idk, sounds like a scam to me.
never trust anything like this unless you see whether you gotten an Official Letter from MOE/MOHE.

Public Schools Facilities can be rented out to Private Companies for Events.
So idk, better wait for your results first lah har.

Also your so called university isn't really well known in Peninsular. So idk why you want to bother, most likely your data is being sold by your campus or you registered for it during some school roadshow...

It's uncommon for students to be attended Pre-U in IPTS if it is under MARA.

Hi, I joined this Linton University for Foundation in Business Studies, totally regretted studying there. There are many foreign students, mainly Africans who are there not for studies but for other "activities". Wasted 1 year studying there as I was in the Business faculty and most of the grading is for group assignments which I struggled with as the foreign students were absent for most of the classes. Please stay away from this so called university and go to a reputable one.

However, I'd like to thank you for providing me with this information since I'm such a newbie to all these further education things.

The reason why I bother so much is because none of my family members had the opportunity to study in an University, as their descendant they expect very highly of me. Therefore, I try my very best to honor and satisfy them.

Bahasa Melayu - C+
English - A
Physics - B
Chemistry - B
Biology - B
Mathematics - A
Additional Mathematics - B+
Pendidikan Moral - B+
Sejarah - D

I'm going for form 6 since I really don't know what I want to do, but I decided to work harder so I can get a better results and more choices for university.

yes.. it's been like that for years...
there's others colleges also like that I don't want mention name.. mostly operated from shoplots...
