Hi All,
Thinking about a buying Myvi Advance or the new Vios E 2019.
Actually booked Myvi and expecting to get it at end Jan but new Vios looks interesting.

As there are a lot experts here, would like to get your advice between these two cars to assist me in making my decision.

Car mainly used for driving around KL and PJ, with occasional trips the places like Penang, Ipoh etc for a break.

Some of my thoughts and questions below:
1. Safety, NVH, ride comfort.
Myvi obviously cheaper and decent value but some upgrades needed to improve safety, NVH, ride comfort.

Vios better safety features (7 airbags, more safe body structure, blind spot monitor, rear cross traffic alert, 360 view monitor, front dashcam), also better ride comfort and NVH.

2. Maintenance
Read in other forum posts Myvi more expensive than Honda City and City more expensive than Vios.
How much does it cost to maintain a Vios?
What's the difference in parts prices?
Which is easier to maintain?
Which has better after sales service?

3. Performance
Believe both use the same engine but Vios uses CVT transmission vs 4AT.
Assume Vios CVT will improve fuel economy and acceleration?

4. Resale
Which has a better resale value and would be easier to sell?

5. Price
Price difference is about RM27k, Myvi Adv RM54k vs Vios E RM81k (wo insurance) .
Probably difference about RM25k after Myvi upgrades.
Also there's a Vios CNY offer of a free body kit upgrade. No big deal for me.

6. Quality and reliability
Really not sure about this. My guess will be Toyota that's because of the brand name. However this is a new version, is there reason to be concerned in getting first batch?

Also I need a car ASAP, and if I order Vios this month will need to wait until Feb/March. My bet is on March. While expect to get Myvi end of Jan.

Is Vios worth the extra RM25k and wait?

TQ in advance for taking the time to read this and for your advice. 🙏

Before you say about maintenance cost, Please check first. Myvi lagi best engine oil change was RM2xx at P2 serbis center (last year). Vios was slightly higher. Don't use bawah pokok price compare to 3S 4S center price. If wanna use bawah pokok price then compare to bawah pokok price. Also not to forget the mileage for oil change or other service, 5k, 10k 15k, 20k or 25k.

Knowing Vios (I have one) and knowing Toyota.. it's the safe bet. The car is practically bulletproof and should last you a long time without any serious issues.

My MIL's Vios back kena hit by kapchai. The steel beam bent and boot cannot open. I fold down the rear seat and use leg to kick 2 times. The steel had beam had been straighten. For me it is a milo tin. Maybe milo tin has 0.025" thicker than Vios metal. Coke can will be more appropriate to describe the metal sheet that they use to built the car. You can said its engine and gearbox are more reliable compare to other cars but never use the word bulletproof because it will mislead people that the car is tough.

Yah when I said "bulletproof", i meant in terms of reliability and normal use.. not in the sense, it's a tank and really bulletproof. Modern cars these days are mostly milo tin as u put it especially japanese / Korean cars.
