Between these two, i would suggest the vios. Its a new car with a fresh look, has rear trunk which you will find useful eventually and reduces impact in rear collision accident.

It also has great safety features, low fc, and expected to be reliable as its predecessor. Its NVH is also expected to be better than the myvi (judging from current version).

But this of course comes with tens of thousands ringgit more. However, since you can afford it now, its can be the right choice. Other suggestions would be city e or the new aruz av.

If no plan for upgrade in near future. Just future proof your car and use it more than 10 years instead of coming to ask, camry or passat after 5 years. Reliability both are equally good.

For travelling outstation, recommend sedan vios for the boot space. Plus budget is not a concern.

Depend alot @wokie regarding your salary, your family financial situation (if ur married with kids or plan to marry)

Car loan should not take more than 30 percent of your salary, period. Ideally max of 7 year loan also.

Money no object, within range of vios, I'd go for Honda City really.

All 3 are high RV, cheap maintenance.

and City has the oomph factor compare to other two.

Single, unmarried, go for Myvi, mod a few things and u can make it a gti car. But I guess, given u ask alot on safety and warranty, stick to stock + very minor upgrades to handling and tyres are sufficient.

A safe, practical and reliable car is what I'm after, basically get me from A to B.

Will try and test drive new Vios and see how it feels. If do not feel it's worth the extra cost I'll stick with Myvi. Probably follow your suggestion about minor handling upgrades and tyres.
TQ

Same engine but maybe a bit different tuned on it.
Biggest difference is GB, one with 4th gear vs CVT.

I have driven company rental previous gen vios from kl to terengganu. The engine soaring most of time at karak highway turn me off which due to cvt behaviour.

Guess 4th gear were a bit better in term of driving pleasure.

Hi All,
Thinking about a buying Myvi Advance or the new Vios E 2019.
Actually booked Myvi and expecting to get it at end Jan but new Vios looks interesting.

As there are a lot experts here, would like to get your advice between these two cars to assist me in making my decision.

Car mainly used for driving around KL and PJ, with occasional trips the places like Penang, Ipoh etc for a break.

Some of my thoughts and questions below:
1. Safety, NVH, ride comfort.
Myvi obviously cheaper and decent value but some upgrades needed to improve safety, NVH, ride comfort.

Vios better safety features (7 airbags, more safe body structure, blind spot monitor, rear cross traffic alert, 360 view monitor, front dashcam), also better ride comfort and NVH.

2. Maintenance
Read in other forum posts Myvi more expensive than Honda City and City more expensive than Vios.
How much does it cost to maintain a Vios?
What's the difference in parts prices?
Which is easier to maintain?
Which has better after sales service?

3. Performance
Believe both use the same engine but Vios uses CVT transmission vs 4AT.
Assume Vios CVT will improve fuel economy and acceleration?

4. Resale
Which has a better resale value and would be easier to sell?

5. Price
Price difference is about RM27k, Myvi Adv RM54k vs Vios E RM81k (wo insurance) .
Probably difference about RM25k after Myvi upgrades.
Also there's a Vios CNY offer of a free body kit upgrade. No big deal for me.

6. Quality and reliability
Really not sure about this. My guess will be Toyota that's because of the brand name. However this is a new version, is there reason to be concerned in getting first batch?

Also I need a car ASAP, and if I order Vios this month will need to wait until Feb/March. My bet is on March. While expect to get Myvi end of Jan.

Is Vios worth the extra RM25k and wait?

TQ in advance for taking the time to read this and for your advice. 🙏

I was in similar situation deciding between a Vios and a Myvi as a 2nd car.

In the end I put a booking for a Kia Picanto which no contest felt better in most ways other than in space which wasn’t a priority. Now considering whether to change the booking for a GT model.

My Perodua SA confirmed last week I will get my Myvi Advance Silver colour this month, booked in Nov. Heard its slower if you do not book through Perodua Showrooms.

Read other forumers booked in Dec and already received their Myvi Advance, registered 2019. That's fast!

I liked Picanto but too small. All depends on your preferences for a car. For me its a car that's reliable, safe, easy to maintain and value for money.
Had my mind set on Myvi until last week until I saw new Vios safety features. Need to test drive to see if Vios worth the price difference.
