Hi All,
Thinking about a buying Myvi Advance or the new Vios E 2019.
Actually booked Myvi and expecting to get it at end Jan but new Vios looks interesting.

As there are a lot experts here, would like to get your advice between these two cars to assist me in making my decision.

Car mainly used for driving around KL and PJ, with occasional trips the places like Penang, Ipoh etc for a break.

Some of my thoughts and questions below:
1. Safety, NVH, ride comfort.
Myvi obviously cheaper and decent value but some upgrades needed to improve safety, NVH, ride comfort.

Vios better safety features (7 airbags, more safe body structure, blind spot monitor, rear cross traffic alert, 360 view monitor, front dashcam), also better ride comfort and NVH.

2. Maintenance
Read in other forum posts Myvi more expensive than Honda City and City more expensive than Vios.
How much does it cost to maintain a Vios?
What's the difference in parts prices?
Which is easier to maintain?
Which has better after sales service?

3. Performance
Believe both use the same engine but Vios uses CVT transmission vs 4AT.
Assume Vios CVT will improve fuel economy and acceleration?

4. Resale
Which has a better resale value and would be easier to sell?

5. Price
Price difference is about RM27k, Myvi Adv RM54k vs Vios E RM81k (wo insurance) .
Probably difference about RM25k after Myvi upgrades.
Also there's a Vios CNY offer of a free body kit upgrade. No big deal for me.

6. Quality and reliability
Really not sure about this. My guess will be Toyota that's because of the brand name. However this is a new version, is there reason to be concerned in getting first batch?

Also I need a car ASAP, and if I order Vios this month will need to wait until Feb/March. My bet is on March. While expect to get Myvi end of Jan.

Is Vios worth the extra RM25k and wait?

TQ in advance for taking the time to read this and for your advice. 🙏

well you plan drive around malaysia for holidays.
i would rekomen the vios as its the better all rounder car compared to myvi.
bigger space will be more comfortable for long distance journey and luggage.

myvi would be better for city drive as it is more compact for easier parking and more fuel economy.

anyhow you cant go wrong with either car IMHO.

Vios is a more versatile car.
Get Vios.
Reliability both are good.
Spare parts also both are affordable.

Never tried new Vios but if compare previous model vs Myvi Adv 1.5

- Vios nvh is much better compared to Myvi.
- Myvi transmission too fast change to high gear to save fuel.

Both my experience using Socar and I will prefer Vios anytime.

Go test drive the myvi. If you can tahan the small seats and lack of power, go test drive again in the rain.

Thanks appreciate your advice.
Most of the time will be city driving and only one every couple of months a driving holiday. As you say guess both cars are OK.
Probably arrange a test drive of Vios next week and see if it's worth to wait another 2 months. Already been waiting for the Myvi for over 2 months 😔

Can afford extra for Vios if it's worthwhile but if Myvi is good enough from a safety, reliability, performance, maintenance and resale standpoint then why pay more.
Vios costs 30% more than Myvi, but is it 30% better?

Test driven Myvi Adv already but not new Vios. I'm 175cm tall and have wide shoulders, found seats OK. Drive wise found acceleration sluggish but once gets up to speed OK, handling OK, suspension a bit harsh but better than Jazz, poor noise insulation.
Size wise Myvi OK for me, not expecting to carry passenger on a frequent basis.
Not tried new Vios but expect it to be better particularly in comfort and NVH. On the to do list.
