Hi guys, I can't find any threads discussing local streetwear brands such as Pestle & Mortar, Stoned & Co. , TNT Co, Futuremade Studio, SRP, OBSCR & etc.

Hence, I need your help to gather resources regarding our local streetwear brands. I really hope that our local streetwear brand can do well and one day who knows we might have an international brand that can be at the same standard as Supreme, Bape, Stussy etc.

To have my own label is my childhood dream, and I really hope that we can do what we can do to support the local brands and fulfilling that childhood dream that I myself could never accomplish on my own.

Here's my contribution. SRP is gaining some traction on Reddit for their Noragis, which price wise is very competitive. Now we all know where the style came from, but they differentiate enough of the overall look for it to be something unique I guess.
I actually bought one of their pants, but had to return it. More on that later. Cut wise, they're similar to Uniqlo but for shorter people probably. They're following the current trend of undersized pants (in terms of length and rise), but again with their own interpretation. Color selection is nice, a lot of earthy grounded tones.
Material wise however is where they fall short. The pants I returned were made in China. Loose thread bits lying about. Thinner than expected, even if it's a cotton spandex blend. The wash seems excessive, making the colors too faded and fabric too much give. Maybe intentional, I don't know. But just couldn't fulfill my price quality ratio. Sad, as they could have been a classic.
Oxford shirts look very interesting with the reinforced elbows. Will foray again into this label in the near future.

Hey itekderp, thank you for your input. SRP is one of the more interesting brand, their Noragis look good, but with the popular colors sold out. Please do a restock soon SRP!

Quality wise will improve over time I guess, just give them some time, don't give up on them just yet, let's hope for a better quality garments in the future!

Their noragis are pretty dope, but most of the colorways that i want didn't have my size anymore. They're having promotion right now for their noragis

how do ones define "streetwear" ? just curious
*
IMHO, to define what's streetwear, and to be able to be labelled as "streetwear" is a different thing. "Streetwear" is not just about the clothing, it's a lifestyle culture. If you're in the culture, you know what's "streetwear". Most people define streetwear as "street style".

"Street style" is defined as fashion that originates from alternative areas rather than the mainstream fashion world, often developing from urban areas and youth culture. Over time street style has taken on new form and is now more prevalent in our culture than ever before. (Copied from the web)

That's very nice! Gambateh! We need more local designers. It's not easy doing clothing line, but eventually it will be all worth it.

Persistence is the key in clothing line. Need to keep releasing new designs as your brand progresses and find your niche. Some like me gave up in the first few releases as it's not cheap to print these tshirts. If you have plans to sell them in Sabah let me know! I'd be glad to help you distribute them.

Where do you find your inspirations for the designs? From the things you love? or from your life experiences?

Hey man, keep up the good work! I wonder if u have any more updates by now, venturing into clothing / fashion line requires full dedication, but a lot of people such as Virgil started out by giving away free tshirts to friends. Gambateh!
