Ha, yes. Another job related thread in kopitiam. I have been contemplating to tender my resignation since September last year but I have been holding back due to various reasons. One of it is I have no job offer currently that will encourage me to throw the letter to my HR dept.

For those fellow members in here who tendered without any job offer in sight, I really respect you guys for being so courageous.

duh, anyone resign without a new job offer, make sure you have balls made titanium carbon fibre or perhaps gold

expected economy will be down for the next few yrs, so good luck
*
yeah, in fact my industry has started to be affected by it even before the downturn starts.

QUOTE(ze2 @ Jan 15 2019, 08:24 AM)
So far I've seen people resigning without a new opportunity because beh tahan the boss. Many left abruptly being terminated for wrongdoings.
*
So do they resign, or they kena terminated? hmm.gif

QUOTE(mt24 @ Jan 15 2019, 08:25 AM)
Oi secure job dulu la bai.
Unless u have 1 year of salary in ur saving account.

Actually, I do have more than 1 year savings excl FDs.

sometimes resignation is not about the job, its about the people around you.

at least this is the reason i resign, job is great, just too many shit people around
*
Yes. I like the industry I'm in but the toxicity and the stupidity of the people around me is just...eww.

QUOTE(maxizanc @ Jan 15 2019, 08:32 AM)
Out of 6 jobs from 6 companies, I did 2 times. (Our old job la)

Both of the times i struggled.

The first one because from our industry to what i studied. Ended up no job for 6 months. When i back to the industry. I had to start with lowest salary you can imagine. That time was 2010 kot

The 2nd one, no job for almost 2 months. But luckily can Grab.

I tell u ine thing la. Not worth at all.
*
masa tu, although earning tak seberapa, at least happy.... until HQ decided to discriminate between contract worker ngan permanent worker. Benefit and entitlement lain padahal jobscope sama. Cilaka. Kebetulan company lain datang ketuk pintu saya, so I also cabut la.

QUOTE(Theoutspokenguy @ Jan 15 2019, 08:45 AM)
I always hear alot ppl talk about grab. Is it worth to quit your job to do grab? Some say can earn 2k to 3k
*
not really worth it actually unless you're really committed to it by driving more than 12 hours daily. Somemore the cars that I have are all C-segments. Maintenance of wear and tear items itself costs $$$$$.

If u already resigned and without a job, do consider doing mlm with me.

There are lots of professional who are doing it now and they have good incomes, better than their work.

Nowadays mlm is not like it used to be.

Thank you for the offer. Hope your business flourish even more.

QUOTE(erald06 @ Jan 15 2019, 09:35 AM)
I hate my previous job too much, hence I left. But also combined the fact that I had to put in a 3 month notice. Not much companies would wait for you for 3 months or buy you out as well.
*
QUOTE(scorptim @ Jan 15 2019, 09:59 AM)
The only time I did this was when I was working with a company which had 3 months notice for resignation. Got a job one and a half months after tendering.

If your job has a long notice period then it might be the only way. Hardly anyone willing to wait or buy out for 3 months.
*
Ya wei. The notice period is the reason why I can't secure some jobs too. Too long. Not all companies willing to buy out especially with the current economy condition where they need to keep cost low.

QUOTE(kitzai @ Jan 15 2019, 10:02 AM)
Confirm 3 years, then change to amg spec.

I buy a class not because it's cheap but the tech and I like hot hatch lor
*
No, A-class is never a cheap car to begin with. Any cars above 200k isn't cheap.

QUOTE(peterG @ Jan 15 2019, 10:36 AM)
I will resign after take bonus end of this month.

- too comfort in company, but no increment for 2 years already
- go holiday 2 week then only start find job
- less commitment,  1 car and rental only

wish me luck  cry.gif
*
All the best. Syukur got bonus.
I sudah 3 years no bonus despite helping company make 600k GP on November.

QUOTE(lucifah @ Jan 15 2019, 10:54 AM)
then u might as well wait for the VSS offer to come

at least u resign get some compensation
*
Small SME only, where got VSS and all... laugh.gif
Bosses will just keep on piling up your responsibilities to achieve 2 possible outcome:

1. choose to stay and continue doing all the jobs given but pay peanut (essentially 3 person job but 1 person pay)
2. choose to leave when it reaches the tipping point of "I can't take it anymore".

Right now I'm somewhere between those 2 scenarios. 1.5. laugh.gif

QUOTE(scorptim @ Jan 15 2019, 11:50 AM)
How long is your notice period? If it’s anything more than 2 months by all means tender first. Then keep going for interviews. I was stuck for almost 2 years trying to land a job when I had 3 months notice and got 3 offers when I tendered first and had 1 month plus notice left.

Unless you lazy or working in really niche industry or role. Impossible to not land anything in that 3 months.
*
If not mistaken is 3 months, but I think there's a clause that the notice period will be 6 months when I'm employed more than 3 years in this company. Need to check back offer letter first. lol

why need cows? kenot piggy ke? Piggy year this year wad. :lol;

On a serious note, yeah. so doomed if it's really 6 months. dry.gif Coz I recall, previously when one of the senior technical guy left, I seen him for quite sometime in office before his farewell party.

if you're jobless for far too long period, then this will be an opportunity for recruiters to lowball you because they know you're desperate for a job.

i just don't understand. By now as an adult you should already know that no matter where you go, there will be an asshole who will piss you off. No matter where you go there will be shit waiting for you to clean. If you are not able to manage the heat and suck it up not matter where you go it will be the same.

Sometimes i do have the urge as well but that doesn't mean i'm going to do it. Reason being? No matter where i go... I'll still face the same shit. Those shit are the reason why you are hired. Hence the shittier the situation, the bigger your pay cheque would be.
*
if you're getting paid 200k per annum to face assholes and clean shit then ok la. at least you're motivated by the money. You still have 1 reason to remain satisfied with your current job.

will you do the same if you're being paid 1/4 of that amount now?

FYI, I didn't sign up for all these shit when I was first hired.

QUOTE(fapman @ Jan 15 2019, 11:17 PM)
Those who said tender first due to 3 months notice, why don’t u guys pay the old company after u secure a new job instead of resigning without any job offer? Isn’t it always better like that or there are some hidden factors as well?
*
I never do that before but from my analysis; because, at the end of the day it involves payment from own pocket? If someone is earning 4k/mth, a payment in lieu of 3 months period will be 12k edi, assuming no more AL to deduct. 12k is a huge sum for an individual. Not all companies is willing to pay for the notice period.

Whereas if you tender and serve the notice period (since no job in sight), you can just clock in sharp, ular here and ular there, clock out sharp and your gaji still rolling in for the next 3 months. Then on last day can just MIA if wanna avoid those pesky farewell parties. lol

But at least u can have a confirmed income after u left the company even though u have to pay on your own for the short notice. Rather than tender 3 months notice and then after that use your own savings to survive for god know how long. I’m actually in between these 2 scenarios - either to pay on my own for the short notice or resign with 3 months notice without any job offer.
*
hmm.gif hmm.gif

if the compensation amount is small then should be still ok I guess to pay ownself.

QUOTE(ywyap @ Jan 16 2019, 10:18 AM)
why not? my ex colleague joined for less than 3 months and she resigned cause can't stand my boss. The best part is she's bonded and base on hr calculation she needs to pay back  estimated 100k for the bond.
*
wah, join straight get bonded (oh wait, sounds like BDSM here).
So she paid the 100k?
