Hello, i've been in the photography field for quite some time, only recently decided to up my game and improve myself with a camera drone, to try new stuff and gain more experience, but on this aspect i lack of experience, hence asking here, do i need an expensive drone ? As I did some research there are drones that goes for 4 figure, and some only goes for less than 200+, was thinking of getting one of those 150-200+ one, would that be ok to use and get some decent drone footage ?

Depends on your expectation, entry level drone typically has 720p or lower, no gimbal stabilisation, no GPS, fiddly controller or app, <10 mins battery, short range, no auto return to home etc.

That's what I call a toy drone.

This is clearly a knock-off copy. Would you buy a knock-off Canon Nikon camera? I would not think of buying but let us know if you decided to go ahead.

A reasonable second-hand genuine DJI Mavic Pro is about 2.5 to 2.7k.

Not really, dji spark has better 1080p than mavic pro

Plus dji spark can charge from powerbank, mavic pro cannot. Very handy when going few days without power source

Nope. Just don't buy. Not suitable for work. No RAW, low reso footages, crappy signal.

Not to mention, flying time only like 10 minutes. Just can get a few shots only. That's very poor.

Best option now is mavic pro second hand.

DJI Spark when launched was about RM 2k. smile.gif

Now below RM 2k.

Anyway DJI Spark is plenty good.

unfortunately, i dont think spark is good enough.

Mavic pro second hand is your best bet if your budget is tight.

Subjective lor, see what you want out of it.

We could even go to the extent telling people to look for Phantom 4 Pro as well.

They have their pros and cons, from what I saw with Spark is that it's plenty sufficient for TS purpose (didn't mention work) but even for work purpose I see no problem using Spark.

Even we recommend Mavic also there will be people who say Mavic not enough, need to go Inspire.

first of all, ts say he from photography, so i believe he has some expectation from the drone. He also mention want to gain experience. a 10min drone cant really learn much in my opinion. better bet is mavic. please dont elaborate to phantom or inspire. thats not even comparable.

i recommend second hand mavic as it can let him to fly longer and also more different environment. subjective also, but i guess mavic pro is better and easier for beginner. the controller got stats too.

Yeah, and I'm not from photography background? tongue.gif

But seriously depends on the person's expectations la. I'm a Phantom and Spark user, so far liked both. Mavic looks cool too.

Don't get this wrong way, I'm not against your suggestion in fact I think it's a good one. I'm just saying, based on my experience with Spark, it's actually a decent candidate as well.

Since you mention Mavic - what do you think of the AIR model?

*ts, please avoid Tello.............NO NO NO. tongue.gif Just no*

i personally think AIR is better candidate than Spark la. But with TS pov, i did suggest Mavic Pro > Air > Spark
