Based on the lighting condition on your pic, i'd say a flash would be better at that situation.

Dude, try setting at least 10% compression on your photos before uploading. 600kb for a photo is too much.

Here's a tip for you when you shoot picture like #2 and post 29, #11. When you have something that is really bright in the scene, try to keep it away from the frame when you are metering it. Meter another scene that has even lighting, without anything in really dark/bright zone and lock the exposure. Then go back to your subject and do your thing. You'd notice that your subject will no longer be underexposed. This is very important when you have subject with dark skin tone who are wearing bright apparel. If you follow this practice, See Peng's skin tone in #11 will not be underexposed, and it will look like #9 & #10 smile.gif

As already said by shinchan, you are putting too much hope on the lens being 1.8....and you really need to set custom white balance when you are indoor.

i like your no.9 pic, good lighting and composition.her black cloth makes her face stands out. try to play more with this colour mood if you can get other composition.for other pics, i think the background is too distracting. potrait photography, i learn one thing. the simpler the better.

Usually, it is not a good idea to shoot with a very bright background. You should meter the background and fill the subject with your flash.

Something is not right with the color, I doubt her real skin tone looks so reddish.

Colors a bit too warm. Try to look for other background as the camera is focusing more on the background than the subject. Do remember that AF looks for vertical lines as reference. The more vertical lines you have, the faster it will focus... on them.

Out of the lot, #9 has the best composition and focus but her top part of the hair are cut off. Should include all the hair into the frame. There are some distracting things behind her, a chair or table maybe. Should remove them.

And with ac98's advise, the 50mm f1.8 is not sharpest at widest but at 1 or 2 stops smaller.

And with ac98's advise, the 50mm f1.8 is not sharpest at widest but at 1 or 2 stops smaller.

oh... i jus found out abt the focusing thingy... will try n reduce the warmness of the color nxt tiem..

The posing of photo #2 is quite nice as the sun shines on the model, if soft flash could be fired to enhance the skin colour making it looks brighter would be great.
