I am having astro service, though I think I am overpaying for this service and only watching few channels.

What my household is watching;
Movie channels (9 pm onwards)
HGTV (almost all the time)
AFC/ food network (Cooking channels)
BBC News, al jazeera (breakfast and other meals)
Normal TV, for news
AXN
Sports like football and f1 (but very rarel. Only see EPL, but so rarely
DIVA
Kids tv like ceria, Disney junior
Everything FOX,
National geographic
TLC

Because the channel preference, need to pay for channels I don't watch. Packages etc. What I currently have is unifi tv and Google Chromecast (official hardware). Also, some of the packages need to subscribe extra and not the packages itself.

Normal TV, can use unifi TV, kids TV, YouTube, Al jazeera YouTube. I have have heard of Netflix, Hulu, iflix etc. But never used it.

I myself just watch YouTube if I don't have TV, so that is not a problem

Is there any alternatives for the channels?

astro Njoi is alternative. it is from Astro too but with very less channel to watch.
Only pay once for installation.
If you wanted to see a locked channel you have to reload and buy it for 30 days only.
otherwise just use some Android box connect with internet

If UniFi TV has all the channel then you can terminate astro. Can also google for MYIPTV which is a yearly subscription.

Myiptv sad to say nowadays always buffering.

Every 40~50sec, 5 secs hiccup, totally unwatchable.

So, if you interested in getting it, try 1 month first to test if ngam with your home Internet speed or setup.

1. Get a ROKU streaming stick
2. Get a good DNS service (not VPN).
3. Get a shared Netflix & Hulu subscription from Lyn. I chose Netflix for movies, Hulu for everything else i.e tv series, kids tv and anime
4. Get a shared Directv Premier subscription from Lyn. From here, you can activate almost all of the popular networks on ROKU i.e Showtime, HBO, FOX, Nat Geo, Nick Jr, Food Network, CNN, CNBC, etc.

*Remember to install Rakuten Viki channel for ROKU - it serves up all the popular TV series from Korea, Taiwan, China, Japan and are fully subbed.

for the channels mentioned, there is no other legit way to get all of them in one piece.

becose there are owner rights, broadcaster rights, country restrictions, etc.

googlecast chromecast will not help. options:

1. u can learn to use a good android box and get some of them or free but not all, may not be reliable.

2. u can look for sellers of illegit iptv and first understand what u get and dun get.

3. u can seek help from another astro user to use astrgo app to get all those channels.

of all the channels u listed, AFC will be difficult as not many countries have it.

HGTV, if u can get, will likely be USA or Europe version, little local/asian content.

Thanks for the detailed response. I can do without AFC then. Generic cooking channel will do. Like masterchef.

Most of the time looking at us hgtv, rarely Asean version.

Is astro go a cheaper option?

hard to say if u can get this or that.

**more like if u find it, u use it, can't be choosy becos they r foc.

typically, u use 2-3 apps to find a combination of channels to watch.

i need to tell u to get all these, u need to spend time, learn, maintain.

it is not for "lazy" or old people who wont/dun spend time on it.

for that, u pay aztro.

astrogo is free for subscriber, i.e. u get id/pw from a user, find same channels as his decoder.

but quality is lower, generally.

read more astrogo:

** i am refering to live tv. vod is much easier.
