Ohhh i would love to be ur tour guide if i was at jogja..
But things is now im studying overseas..n go back only december..
To buy souvenirs n batik without having worries of being cheated by the seller...
I suggest u go to mirota batik..it's located infront of beringharjo market..
Just cross the street n you shall see it..
Price is affordable..n they sell fridge magnet too at second floor..

Hi, I am going to Yogyakarta on September. If I want to stay at Monahara Hotel for one night, should I book it now with the room only or with the Borobudur sunrise package?

And here are my itineraries, I don't know which to follow. I want to go Solo but I am afraid I have not enough time since the Day 4 flight back to KL is early morning flight at 9am (Yogyakarta time). Feel free to comment. Thanks in advance smile.gif

Day 1: Airport – Kraton – Pulau Cemeti walk tunnel to Taman Sari – Kaliurang (Merapi) – Manohara Hotel

Day 2: Borobudur – Candi Pawon – Candi Mendut – Prambanan – Candi Lumbung – Candi Bubrah – Ruin of Candi Sewu – Candi Plaosan – Candi Ijo – Parangtritis beach for sunset and Tebing Gembirawati behind the beach – Malioboro

Day 3: Kaliadem (Muntilan mudflow) – Dieng Plateu Theatre – Candi Arjuna – Sikidang Volcano crater – Candi Bima – Gatotkaca Temple – Telaga Warna – Jalatunda well (Sumur Jalatunda) – Kawah Sileri (Sileri Crater) – Candi Dwarawati

OR

Day 1: Airport – Prambanan – Parangtritis Beach – Manohara Hotel
Day 2: Borobudur – Dieng
Day 3: Mt Merapi – Solo [Candi Sukuh – Cetho Temple – Tawamangu Waterfall]

Hello,

Anyone been to the excursions Dieng/Unggaran/Ambarawa/Borobudur from Semarang?

Is it advisable to do as day trip?
Semarang -> Dieng (1 day)
Semarang -> Rawa Pening-Ambarawa-Gedung Songo (1 day)
Semarang -> Borobudur (1 day) or from Yogya would be better?

What about car rental with driver? I am worried about the distance and time required..

Semarang to Dieng is much nearer compare to Jogja-Dieng. For sure can but not sure easy to get driver from Semarang as this city is not really a tourist city

Semarang to Borobudor also OK - but very far. you will need to passby Jogja sunurb 1st b4 Borobudor..

Thanks, Stimix.

Probably will stick to first two then.. if can find driver.. smile.gif

Added on December 2, 2012, 11:46 pmBack from Semarang trip about a month ago.. Just to share..

Day 1 - Around Semarang city to nearby places of interest like Lawang Sewu (free and easy). Lawang Sewu has entrance fees. The staff there will try to convince you to take guide if you want to venture deep inside the building. It was relatively old building complex and in some part of the buildings, it was poorly lit. Probably not a good idea to simply run around deep inside without a guide. For historical buff, a guide will probably gave you more details of the places. Otherwise, if just want to take photographs around the compound or at those balcony, it was still okay to explore yourself. We opt to not have a guide (Rp10,000 per person).

Day 2 - Managed to find driver + car from hotel that we stayed for Dieng for Rp. 400,000 (12 hours) and Rp150,000 for petrol. There were entrance fees for Dieng Plateau but I do not remember the price.

It was a mistake to not stay overnight over there as there wasn't much time to explore around. Journey took 4 hours each way. It's like going to Penang from KL for a day trip, except that the road feels like climbing and descending to/from Fraser's Hills most of the time. rclxub.gif In addition, during our trip, the drizzlings did cut short some of our time there, although in the end, we did see what we wanted to see (Kawah Sikidang + Telaga Warna). The only regret is that Telaga Warna is not at its best view. Love the fried potatoes and tofu sold at one of the stall at Kawah.. Guess we were starving then but it was really simple and nice.

It was tiring but interesting trip and we were really impressed with the driver's skill navigating through the winding narrow roads at the countryside.. Countryside's views were awesome.

Day 3 - We skipped Rawa Pening and only proceeds for free and easy walk around the older part of the city on Day 3. Eat, souvenir shoppings, visit places of interest like Gereja Blenduk, Marabunta Building, a tobacco/cigarette factory. We came across a street where they have those chicken fights (sabung/laga ayam). To be honest, as it is not a tourist city, souvenirs were really limited except those food based ones. Wingko babat is one of the famous one although it is not originated from there. They also have some sort of popiah with a variety of fillings called lumpia/lunpia but it wasn't really suits my taste buds.

To us, food was still acceptable but most of the time, the food were too sweet for us. We enjoy food at our hotel better smile.gif
