If the spec & price is similar to M2P, Sammy will be rich in India in a glimpse... Sammy didn't see this strategy yet... Too bad...

Yup, that's the reason why low specs phones sell well for Samsung before Xiaomi went in and disrupt the market. Xiaomi sold midrange phones at same price as Samsung's low spec so they took the market from Samsung. Other brands follow suit like Realme and Asus. Low price phone sells well in India so Apple who doesn't have low price phone definitely will fail.

The funny thing is, Tim Cook is blaming China for Apple's failure to sell well over in China. Market analysts already know iPhones won't sell if they continue to raise the price. 1k per phone? That is absurd! I love iphones but I will not buy nor support them for selling at such high price. Tim Cook is just greedy. Expensive but value is not there. Used to be market leader because the price is justified by the value of the product. But now, same iphone design since iphone 6 to XR. They are the one catching up with other phone's technology now. Where has all the innovation gone? In the grave with Steve Jobs. cry.gif

The M2 Pro is now a contender for Mi A2. Both also running on pure Android. Both have it's pros and cons.

M2 Pro bigger battery and cheaper, gorilla glass
Mi A2 running Android One, better design quality

Note about the camera which is better.

Price is also around the same for the 4gb version.

Battery Report

I think I'm a very light phone user. Average day usage:
- phone call less than 10
- WhatsApp less than 1 hour
- Browsing using Chrome less than 1 hour
- Youtube also less than 1 hour

There is a possibility I can go more than 2 and half days between charging.

Latest battery usage --> https://imgur.com/a/yOaRNkc

On another note... I just notice... when do screenshot.. the notch dissappears. Is that normal?
*
Should be no problem for 3 days. I think with such low usage can go up to 4 days.

Yes when first got this phone, i still have my poco with me, back then using m2p just for taking calls and whatsapp. I charge the battery on monday night, it can last until friday morning and when i charge its still have around 30% left....superb...

Well, those people who come to this thread will be bias. But I must say a lot of users do not mind a phone that is slightly thicker with bigger battery. Chasing for thinniest is Apple's obsession and android manufacturers should not follow blindly. Give options to users. Asus did a good job listening to users and the 5000mAH battery helped them to sell more phones than if they went with 4000mAH.

I do not like carrying a brick and i do not carry one unless I am on holiday. Personally, I think it looks classless when someone carry a phone with cables plugging into a brick. Especially ladies. Normal phones should last you one day even if you are heavy user. Unless you play games like gila. If the phone doesn't last you a day means that is a really lousy phone or the battery capacity is reduced. Either change the phone or change the battery. Carrying a brick for that problem is just ignorant.

LOL..just my opinion. Nothing personal. devil.gif

darn it...Asus need to come up with M3 soon as Redmi Note 7 is launching with better specs. Asus keep playing catch up games with Xiaomi.

Redmi Note 5 -> Redmi Note 6 -> Redmi Note 7 launch is so fast. Not even 1 year between each iteration.

It's a shame that Xiaomi's Mi A1 and A2 which are under Android One program did not deliver positive experience for major OS upgrade. Now we know how Google & Xiaomi working along in the background...
*
I agree that somehow Android One is not delivering what it promised. I feel like the upgrade is still up to phone vendor to do. Like google is just there to advise or something. That is why it is still so slow and buggy. The way Android One was sold is like Google will maintain the upgrade and gave impressions that it will be less buggy and quicker to upgrade like pixels.

In the end, it is like Android Go also and depends heavily on phone vendor to upgrade. If phone vendor have low priority to upgrade Android One then the phone will be no difference like other phone's firmware. In the end, it might proof to be a blessing our M1P/M2P are pure android maintained by Asus only. So they don't need to answer to Google for their updates and so far it seems the are delivering monthly updates. That is really good and hope they are able to maintain that until Q as they promised.

I’ve ran every single update for my Max Pro M1 in the past 6 or 7 months, except for one update which installed some Russian browser (and some other useless apps), so far so good.
*
That russian browser is called Yandex and it is actually quite a good browser which I am using now. BTW, you can install chrome's extensions to this Yandex as they are compatible.

Samsung Galaxy M series is coming to town

https://www.soyacincau.com/2019/02/10/samsu...malaysia-sirim/

It seems there is no 5Ghz WiFi though, similar to the Max Pro M1 and M2. I wonder if the licensing fee for the 5Ghz WiFi is really that expensive? Xiaomi seems to have no problems providing that across the board for their phones...
*
Surprisingly the M20 have camera that is worst than M2. I though M2 Pro already have bad camera but the M20 seems to be worst.

As long as Sony IMX sensor, with proper software algorithm, the pix & vix will be "satisfactory"...

Thing is, Samsung has been around for so long and used a lot of Sony IMX sensors. They seems rushed with the M20 and cut a lot of corners. They are too comfortable with their top position because normal people will see Samsung and will just but the brand.

Anyone got the Max M2? I need to get a used phone at low price but all the used phone selling at "looking for waterfish" price.

For new phone, seems like this Zenfone Max M2 is a good buy. Or should i get Max Pro M1 instead? Anyone have other suggestions? Prefer something with big screen. Used Mi Max 2 people are selling like RM600..bodoh!

Budget is actually less than RM300. If cannot get a reasonable used phone then will get Max M2.

Aiya, you ordered already never mind la... Out of curiosity, which phone for 280? smile.gif

I was planning to keep mine till the Pie update, try it and then sell it... few more months before the warranty ends. I’ve never been lucky with Asus phones - they tend to die on me after the warranty period is over, hahaha...

Overheat issue.

I know. It's fine for my case because it is only for normal usage. I did try playing PUBG for 1.5 hours and it is not that hot. The thing that I am more concern is the battery. Won't last 1 day with medium usage.

Hahaha...that's what happen to people who are used to 5000mAH battery phones....

For local sets just update via OTA and you’ll be safe since no official Pie update yet for Malaysia.

What? Really? Aren't the firmware for India global version which can flash for all the other M1?

With your suggestion, i used only 3g mostly - the battery drainage has reduced a fair bit.

Generally 1hr sot takes up about 10% of battery; the drain below started from 80%

[attachmentid=10253432]

I see some users get way better sot than me tho.
*
Bro, just enjoy using the phone. You bought it because it has 5000mAH battery. Just charge it to full and use it. Stop worrying about battery unless it is draining ridiculously fast. No point micro managing a phone battery. When time is up, you can just change battery at cheap price so why the worry? I think it doesn't make sense to charge at 80% because you will end up charging it more often which is also another big factor that reduces battery life span.

So my advice, just use the phone like it's meant to be used.

well from what I read. Pie is more smooth. faster boot-up. Less battery drain BUT dimmer screen... so basically u needed to increased your %.

don't know about FM Radio frequency..

Telco coverage poor? M2P uses Snapdragon chipset / modem. on par with Huawei (someone mention before). so signal should be okay too (compared with MTK chip/modems). maybe yours telco coverage poor in your area  brows.gif
*
Asus probably heard people complaining about the screen too bright which is true for me. My screen brightness is always 10%-20% only. Even at night with lights off when I turn to 0%, it is still too bright. LOL...dimmer screen is a plus for me! LOL....

Gonna update to Pie once the community in XDA release a version with TWRP and Decrypt that won't lose my data.

ps. Sorry my phone is M1 only.
