Today I was rider.
The car's windows were not tinted. Very hot inside 😰 Half way, the driver received a call from 'Honey', and talked for 5 minutes. He was using hands-free. Still, that's a distraction. |

It is so easy to make monies out of desperate people where you need medical attention or miracle cure. Funeral service easily can take advantage of relatives of deceased. And those who grab to drive for fund also have no choice but to ride on the cow while looking for horse to mount for solid footing.
The problem is many would get stuck with flexible hours of working and do not account of the cost to maintain the cars apart from petrol. I know of taxi drivers that would struggle for decades when it comes to purchase new cars where the vicious cycle would start all over again and again. Thank God I am lucky to drive for fun and to raise fund. however, I stopped using my HRV after driving it for a year as Uberman. It is because the cost to maintain comes to over 35 thousand ringgit to replace absorbers , suspensions, gear box and alternators where it clocked more than 150000!!! Luckily, it still covered under warranty with the helpful manager. But if I dispose the car, it would cost peanuts with that kind of mileage though it is at sparkling performance with the new replacement parts. And the manager said that's it with the warranty Now driving around with Exora NGV model. Saves fuel but soon the costing to maintain it. In fact, now got to send for air cond compressor repairs and suspension problems too. Fortunately, it only cost half the price as I bought it second hand from ex taxi driver friend who gave it up because he kenot cari makan with that kind of stress to grab riders from the apps or street. |

i have one and a half months to go before I retire. All set to drive for CRAP but as days pass, I agree that Grab is Crap after reading so much.
The Mangement of CRAP is not aware of frustrations of the drivers ? Should all form a union and threaten to stop being their slaves.... see they panic or not |

Easy to say when there is no demand, then there will be no supply. Instead of asking driver to stop driving, we shall educate rider not to use grab. Look at moola, gabir and quulo...All these app are dying slowly...few hours wait also cant get a ping...clear cut, no demand. The Mangement of CRAP is not aware of frustrations of the drivers ? Should all form a union and threaten to stop being their slaves.... see they panic or not I would suggest like this....go demonstrate in public telling everyone it is unsafe to take ehailing with all horror stories. Once the public accepted this fact then automatically there will be no demand....by then driver will quit grab...as simple as that. |

GRAB'S PLAN FOR 2019
1) The preferred plan - Grab will no longer deduct a commission based on percentage. Instead drivers will be paid based on mileage & minutes. There will be a normal km&min rate along with a dynamically set one based on surges. SURGE itself will no longer be associated with a multiplier. During a surge, passengers will of course be hit with a multiplier but drivers will only be paid extra surge cents per km&min. The difference between the two is Grab's profit. This is to be the new deal for both new recruits and existing drivers (existing drivers logging into their app will be greeted with a 99 page TOS to which they will have to agree in order to continue grabbing) All this is only possible if everyone's using grabpay. (driver app will not show passengers fare only his earnings; this is essential) Since majority are cash transactions this plan is doomed or at least shelved until the cashless future is here. PLAN 1 STATUS: Unimplementable |

GRAB'S PLAN FOR 2019 (continued)
2) Commission + additional fees per trip: a) network fee b) airport fee c) service/booking fee d) safety fee Doesn't matter what they're called but the fees, they are a coming... Uber started with safety fees - everybody grudgingly accepted why not since it enhances safety until drivers learnt 'safety' meant driver background checks. One lawsuit later Uber changed it to booking fee. Uber's even charging some sort of climate change fee in London for clean energy research (*cough* self driving cars *cough*) Total take home pay of Grab will be around 40% of fare... PLAN 2 STATUS: Coming soon |

Drivers will surely sour at the above but thats ok, high turnover is expected there will always be new drivers queueing outside grab offices. In fact collective driver behaviour has shown that there is a lot more that can be extracted from this group so long as its done incrementally.
The above plans are essential if Grab is to realise a profit before going for an IPO. Grab's corporate overhead is high. The CEO,CFO,CTO, VPs and lawyers all need to be paid. A new 180 million dollar HQ. Funding research for autonomous vehicles - none of these can be sustained with 20-25% commission i mean really... |
