My current fan was the nidec fan which was supposed to be quiet, but with the old thermal paste it was really loud.

It was the CUH7006.
And yes, I know nidec fans aren’t common to be noisy, so I was surprised to see one when I opened it.
It’s not a second hand set too, so it came from Sony with the nidec fan.

Yup. Which was why after changing the paste, it was very quiet.
The console itself was already clean. Couldn’t find much dust inside, so I didn’t bother cleaning anything.

Having an air purifier near my console paid off haha.

Just wait.
Price for current gen consoles will drop quite rapidly in the next few months.

Update after a couple of months.
The nidec PS4 pro fan is getting loud again.
Not as Loud as just before I changed the fan, but it’s certainly very noticeably irritating now. Can definitely hear it over speakers.

It’s a good thing I’ll be able to collect the ps5 later this weekend. Can’t stand the noise.

Yup. Heat sink was quite clean too before I cleaned it.

16 accounts if I’m not wrong.
You’ll not reach the limit under most normal circumstances.

I was using the official PS4 pro stand (looks like the one from Amazon). So far so good. Doesn’t seem to block the air intake as well.

It was 4 years + ago.
I wouldn’t had paid more than rm100 for it though.
Bought it online. Either from Lazada or shopee.

The best course of action so far is to change the fan.
Change to a nidec ps4 pro fan and also apply a new thermal paste.

Plenty of YouTube tutorials here and I think you can find the PS4 pro fan online.

Having said that while it will get noticeably quieter, it’s still far from a complete silence. It’ll still be very audible during gameplay.
