first, i apologize if this topic is a repost, because i couldn't find it so i made a new one.

i'd like to ask experienced members which is best online portal to trade stocks on KLSE?

i only know about maybank via it's maybank2u. they charge RM20 to open a CDS account and some members here reporting it's helluva bad connection (being unable to access and not updated frequently).

what are other online portals that updates frequently? and do you guys know how much they charge to open an account? plus, do they come along with a software that keep tracks of stocks in KLSE live?

thanks in advance

No need pay slip to open a CDS account. You can open even you're a student.

I never use online trading, but thinking want to use OSK.

Maybank need RM20. RM10 for CDS and RM10 for don't know what already. Some more this is nominee account only.

Are you using OSK online trading? How's it? It's free, right?

ivmaniacvi,

Yes, if not mistaken, you have to open a CDS account with OSK even you already have with other brokers.

well, i guess if you put it in that way, OSK service is free since the RM10 goes to the opening of CDS account.

no, i'm not using any online trading Yet. but am going to plaza osk today to open my account after recommendation by fellow members. fastest way possible to get my account up and running.

I have K&N Kenanga's. Decent portal with lots of research and real time data. The downside is the not so user-friendly UI.

They charge 10 bux for CDS account only. Portal is K&N.

it's nice to have many members contributing. hope it helps people who want to venture into stock investing in future.

i went to plaza osk (near ampang park) to open my cds account. 10th floor. was serviced by a pretty malay girl. she was really really amazing.

anyway, it cost me RM10 and about half an hour. to get an online trading account, i have to wait for 3 days. the remiser will call me they said.

btw, you don;t need an osk-uob saving bank account to open a trading account.

Sure got commission, if not investment bank and remiser still has to eat mah.

Normal rate of commission is about 0.6% (may vary) and most investment bank generally give some discount on online trading to promote it which until now I knew is 0.42% the lowest.

Basically, you key in the price and unit wish to trade and the order will route to the investment bank server or broker/remisier front then they verify it and re-route to KLSE.
Until now as far as I knew, there is no direct order that can send into KLSE trading system, all need to go through investment bank server front to prevent retailers wrongly key-in order.
So there is a bit delay in sending the order but if the investment bank server is good and remisier is doing ther job properly, the delay in minimal only a few seconds.

You can try the CIMB stock game. Can see real time KLSE watch, maybe got few minute delay, not sure. Anyway, it's the best so far I found and it's free.

sorry, never heard of rhb invest before. and as far as i know, osk is the best. there was a maybank near my house but their online service is not to my liking.

doing online trading shouldn't be much hassle regardless which portal you subscribe to because for me, i do everything online. from trading stocks, getting paid and transferring money to 3rd party accounts.

@ivmaniacvi

Are you sure OSK has rebate?

I have tried OSK, Maybank and HongLeong (Hlebroking).

Maybank and HongLeong uses the same software. But Maybank data kind of diminishing. When you try to draw day charts on Maybank, most parts are 'gone'. You can't check your account status at night, it is only available after 2am. For HLeBorking, you can check yoru status anytime.

Please note that there is a BIG problem with OSK (I am not sure if it is different now)

When you enter trades via Maybank and HLeBroking, your trades are routed to the center with a bunch of 'monkeys' that accept your order. This extra work is a bit useless, which means your order need to be 'accepted' by a human at the trading center. But there are lots of reminsiers there to do that. So it takes less than 5 seconds for you.

But for OSK it is different story. Although it says you trade Online, your order is routed back to the reminsier (your reminsier) and he need to 'accept' your order before it is activated. So if your reminsier is in toilet, your trade will not go in until he finish his 'work'.

I hate maybank2u too. But there is a great benefit that no one can challeges.

Maybank2u offer incredible margin rates!

* 50k-100k
o Y1 BLR - 1.75%, Y2 BLR + 0%
* 100k - 500k
o Y1 BLR - 1.75%, Y2 BLR - 0.5%
* 500k+
o Y1 BLR - 2.00%, Y2 BLR - 1.75%

yes, i am very sure. it is stated in my statement - brokerage rate : 0.70% x 0.7 (which is 0.49%)

i'm a newbie in stock trading, i don't go for margin financing. and in malaysia, you can't send your order directly to KLSE, it must go through your remiser. some of them, if they go out for awhile, they will have a colleague to take over their spot for a while (such in my case). if i am not mistaken, osk is the largest or 2nd largest trading company in malaysia.

for me, i think osk's online trading is the best. Click HERE to go to the website. there, they explain almost everything. time to do your homework smile.gif

if you fulfilled the eligibility to trade stocks, then the first step is to have RM10 to open a CDS account, go to their ampang park office and open the account (fastest way). on how to trade, there are many information on the screen that will take a LONG explanation here. suggest take a look at the trading screen first, then ask anyone (i asked my remiser like a noob) what you do not know. hope this reply helps

*
Yup, if the remiser can't do a near 'real' time for you, better change one, nowadays not like 90's there are plenty of remisers in the investment house thare are sitting idle at their front of computer even with current market bullishness.

They can't allow retailers order being directly route to the KLSE system since a simple mistake might mean a lot of $$.
If the remiser wrongly key in orders then the remiser needs to bare the cost at current system (if accepting orders from phone then key in wrongly.

Guys,

For my situation: currently away from Malaysia for 3-4 years, but still want to trade in KLSE, what is the best option for me?

Currently have a cds account with Hwang DBS, but w/out online stock trading facilities, don't have the leisure to open this before I was away. At 1st plan to open a maybank account, but a friend currently owned one asked me to look for another portal. I don't want all the hassle of making calls and sending email due to my current commitment. Heard RHB is good, some of the feedback here suggest OSK. But I want to know which one is more independent and reliable? Can I just open an account online, i.e. no need to visit their office?

CIMB must visit their account because there are forms to be signed and so on, and so is Maybank..the others im not surela..

bt i think you still have to sign the forms isn't it?.. rclxub.gif

most of them you can register online, but they would require you to be present to sign the nominees form.

maybe what you can do is open an online trading account with hwang dbs and get them to fax or e-mail the forms to you to sign lorr..

my apologies if the info is incorrect.. notworthy.gif
