The brand of milk powder, equipment (from bottles, clothing to stroller), disposable pampers or cloth diaper, babysitting method and etc will make a very big different. I cincai also spent around RM2.5k a month including babysitting services.

Just had a newborn. On the 'one-time' buy things such as car seat, strollers, playpen (which i forsee might last long for at least 2 years), spent around 4k.

On the monthly expenses, formula milk + diapers + daycare (mine 1.5k) will come around 2k/m for the first year. Additional 200-300 a month for clothings/feeding bottles.

So, should be around 2.5k a month.

Please expect slight more for the first child, like mentioned in post above many one off stuff to buy.

By the age of 1 should start to settle down, I would say including baby sitter roughly 1.5k-2.5k will do per month.

Some of the month prone to have unexpected stuff, like baby sick la, toys, add clothing etc.

Standard recurring stuff like diapers, milk, food I would say prob 500 may be able to cover.

Buy the smallest can because you do not know your baby will like that formula or not. You can get free sample from expo or paediatrician. Remember breastmilk still the best.
