Asking on behalf my friend. Few questions on insurance and hiv, need advise from professionals.

1. Do insurance accept patient who contracted HIV? If yes, higher premium?

2. If policyholder contracted HIV after bought the insurance, can claim or not if in case of surgery? Will insurer void the policy?

3. For #2, what if the surgery or medical condition is not HIV driven? For example like typical heart disease?

Please advise. Thanks.

received notice from my GE agent:

Special Announcement: Great Eastern Life Malaysia (GELM) extends medical coverage for hospitalization treatment related to Novel Coronavirus (2019-nCoV) within Malaysia

With the concern of outbreak of the Novel Coronavirus (also known as the Wuhan coronavirus), we wish to inform that GELM will waive the “quarantine” exclusion for treatment related to the Wuhan coronavirus in hospitals within Malaysia.

The general exclusion in our medical products referring to communicable disease requiring quarantine is as follows:

“…and any communicable diseases required quarantine by law.”

This means that we are extending our medical coverage to customers who require treatment related to the Wuhan coronavirus for treatment in hospitals within Malaysia.
