I really an insurance noob and hope is the right place to ask. Thanks in advance.

1) Recently I have done angioplasty operation due to coronary artery block. Basically insurance (Prudential) have cover all the costs. No problem with that. My insurance agent told me that I can further claim for critical illness which my policy covers. When I asked my doctor, he says he need to look at my policy to make a report/statement because according to him, some policy might be different. My problem is, I lost my policy after moving to another house which is years ago. I asked my agent, my agents says critical illness policy is similar, should not be a problem.

Does the doctor really need to look at the policy ? How does this type of claims usually works ?

2) According to to customer service, my policy document is not available online. Need fill up the form "Statutory declaration for loss of policy" get it stamped and reprint at costs of RM 30. According to them, need to go Putrajaya to stamp it. I do not know where exactly to stamp such document.

Which government department exactly ? Is this can be done at commissioner of oath ? I am staying in Shah Alam, can this be done in Shah Alam or PJ ?

Looks okay, cover many sectors. If this is the only policy you have in hand.
You can check your illustration table, roughly can sustain till what age base on X (low return) & Y (high return)
Also check the chosen fund pass performance for estimation.
You may ask your agent to show you as well.

Life cover not enough if you have housing loan or other commitment.

You just sign up? or old policy?

Anyhow, base on your basic info.. same amount you can get same sum assured with higher medical fees and no lifetime limit for kidney/cancer.
And no co-insurance, plus 45 Critical illness. Sustainable till 70yo both scenario X & Y.

You may want to relook on your life coverage, given you are at the most productive years of your working life; more so if you are married with kids.

Is this an old or new policy?

Depending on what you need to cumber to make sure that every area is covered such as debts, commitments and responsibility.

The above question will need you to share more about your personal life and future plans in order to know if it can be met.

Thanks for your great reply tyenfei.

Yeah i also think life not enough but what is enough enough? Is it better to top up my life or buy like MLTA?

Oh yeah this is an old policy. What is that illustration table all about? any sample? when you talk about sustainable does that mean am i able to pay till 70?

I think the policy been updated to 45CI on its own if i am not mistaken...when you said same amount does it apply to all insurance nowadays or only certain insurance has it?

The general rule of thumb is to cover all your debts, living expenses, funeral expenses, and etc

Talking to a financial advisor is the right way to go.

You have a choice to top up on your existing policy or to take up a new policy with just life coverage if your aim is just to increase on your life coverage.

Investment policies have an option to pay for whole life or you can also pay for a short period of time i.e 6 - 10 years and it'll sustain all the way to 100 years old (depending on options).

Premium charges may differ depending on your benefit, you may check out what is the premium difference if the policy provides 0 deductible/co-insurance with no lifetime limit on Cancer/Kidney treatment.

as other suggest, enough or not base on your commitment.
It is better to consult with agent. Open your book and plan in order.

sustainable mean with the same premium, a table illustration with estimated investment cash value can last till what age.
(not guarantee, anyhow good enough to predict)

I use the same amount you paying, calculate with GE SPE3 new policy.
You may ask other quote to compare.

hi echoesian, for Critical Illness cash benefit (or payout benefit), so long you bought a plan that covers "Critical Illness Payout Benefit" then yea, all companies have this benefit. Unless you are referring to plan that covers specifically during pregnancy (baby still in the womb till born), then at the moment only AIA, Great Eastern and Prudential have it.

Newer plans can cover early Critical Illness.

Next you need to know is how much is the payout % for early, intermediate and severe stage.

Hi seancl85, some insurance companies covers 39 (AIA, Manulife), 45 (GE), 43 (Prudential) and 36 (Allianz). For early stages, then need to have additional critical illness rider that covers early stages.
