i am a mac n windows user .
however , i am quite not understand why apple advertise that their OS X is safe from viruses .
is it due to the platform ?

i know ppl will say that viruses in .exe only works in windows . but i am sure that there is .dmg creator to damage mac OS .

i know ppl will say in the future if many ppl uses mac , there will be many virus already .

my understanding is , in this 22 years , why is there no one create virus to attack OS X officially ?

One of the biggest reasons is because of the Windows popularity.

Why create a virus for 5%* of the computer users population when there are 90%* of them to attack?

Don't let its elegant and easy-to-use interface fool you. Beneath the surface of Mac OS X lies an industrial-strength UNIX foundation hard at work to ensure that your computing experience remains free of system crashes and compromised performance. Time-tested security protocols in Mac OS X keep your Mac out of harm's way.

I dun think so this is the main point u see. If i were the one to creat a .dmg file to make a mac OS infected by Virus, i am sure i will be famous with headlight of MAC BEING INFECTED BY VIRUS or MAC IS NO LONGER SAFE or FIRST VIRUS OUTBREAK FOR MAC etc etc. I am sure i will be famous la as the creator..

but i too wonder why none??

seriously, if i were to be so mean to create virus, i'd target the OS that's most easy to breach and has the largest # of userbase, preferably stupid users.......people who download every single cute thing without giving a thought of where is it from and what danger it could have.

why Windows?
1. easier to attack
2. easier to spread

and MAC is not without virus either. smile.gif just that it being Unix based, it's not as easy to attack it compared to Windows. then even if you attack it, how do you spread from there?
