Hi all Mothers and Mothers to be,

After your 28 days at confinement centre, you return home with baby to care all by yourself with hubby helping out when he's home.

What are the essentials to buy to prepare on my 2nd month?

I was thinking I need to buy these a month or two before giving birth:

1. Cot or Crib?

2. The wooden thing to place baby there to change clothes (underneath store baby essential items). What do I call this? Lol

3. Clothes, mittens, the cloth to wrap baby, towels, handkerchief, baby pillows, bolster and blanket

4. Baby bottles (which brand is highly recommended?)

5. Breast pump? Which brand is recommended?

6. Baby oil, cream and powder (is powder needed?)

5. The white cloth to replace pampers (I heard that's better for baby's skin). Which means we need to wash the cloth all the time? Any mothers took this option than using pampers?

6. Mami Poko pampers (is this brand recommended?)

7. Baby's toy (placed on top with music) is this necessary?

8. Shampoo and body shower (which brand is recommended?)

9. Baby bathtub (recommended to have?)

What else is not so necessary and what else I missed out for 2nd month care for baby?

10. Also, for mothers, what is needed?

Thank you everyone in advance for your help and advise

Answered it on another thread. Hope it useful.

1. Electronic Breast Pump - Medela/Avent? Is RM500 enough to buy a good one? ————— I have both medela&avent(double pump) avent better. Cost RM 1000 - RM 1500

2. Baby Cot (wood) ————— Ikea sunvik + jattertrot mattress. Cost = RM499 + RM 350

3. Baby CarSeat ——- cybex/maxicosi

4. Playpen - for bringing along when we travel or go back hometown ———— Graco or babybjorn, real wood playpen I use geuther

5. Baby bath tub ———————- yes any brand is ok, consider rohto or ok baby(I use both).

6. Baby bath tub stand - is it better to have this? I wonder if it's stable enough. —————————— yes!!! If you want to save your back smile.gif . But chose the reliable one, the one without tires.

7. Baby bath support -————— the one that made of fabric/cloth, straightaway put inside

8. Baby blanket
9. Baby mattress——————— already above

10. Diaper changing mat———————— I love my ikea hehe

11. Diaper changing table - Ikea

12. Baby stroller

13. Newborn diapers - Pampers premium, Huggies platinum, Goon Premium, Moony Natural

14. Feeding bottle - which one is good Tommy Tipee, Avent or any brand? Glass or non-glass? —————avent or TT, I use avent. Non glass. 1st if your baby grown up and start throwing things you will understand why non-glass more efficient. And at the age of 4-6months they’ll learn to hold their bottle, the glass one not really practical.

15. Sterilizer.—————— Definitely need!! Cheap one Avent around RM300. I use Haenim UV steriliser

16. Milk warmer. Actually very concern about this cos some friends commented it takes too long and their babies are impatient to wait even for seconds. —————- no need, my baby fine with formula+evian water directly. Never sick, bloated, gassy, etc etc since newborn till now(11months old)

17. Newborn baby clothing—- definitely need

18. Thermometer—————- need

19. Pacifier —————- depends on you, I never introduce pacifier since born.

20. Baby towel

21. Baby carrier —————- need, ergobaby omni 360.

22. Baby monitor——————- try yi 1080p camera, it’s cheap, but for me it’s more than enough.

23. Lansinoh/lanolin cream

24. Nipple cover

25. Diaper rash cream

26. Muslin blanket

27. Breastfeeding pillow

28. Swaddle ————love to dream

29. Baby bath+wash products i use all sebamed

30. Bottle nipple cleanser with brush

Answer =

1. Cot or Crib? ——— need, answered above

2. The wooden thing to place baby there to change clothes (underneath store baby essential items). What do I call this? Lol ————— baby changing table, answered above.

3. Clothes, mittens, the cloth to wrap baby, towels, handkerchief, baby pillows, bolster and blanket————— you need everything above except baby pillows and bolster

4. Baby bottles (which brand is highly recommended?)———answered above

5. Breast pump? Which brand is recommended?———— answered above

6. Baby oil, cream and powder (is powder needed?)———— you need baby oil, diaper rash cream, but no need talcum powder.

5. The white cloth to replace pampers (I heard that's better for baby's skin). Which means we need to wash the cloth all the time? Any mothers took this option than using pampers?———— it’s personal choice. So far premium line from all famous brand are good enoug. And my son never get rashes/redness.

6. Mami Poko pampers (is this brand recommended?)———— depends, it’s not good also not bad either. From functional side it’s works ok, from the comfort and quality, it’s not good enough for me even the most expensive type of mamypoko. Too bulky.

7. Baby's toy (placed on top with music) is this necessary?——— not really. Buy him baby play gym from fisher price and thank me later if your baby super happy with it. Lol.. it’s superb!!

8. Shampoo and body shower (which brand is recommended?) ———— sebamed/cetaphyl/aveeno baby

9. Baby bathtub (recommended to have?) ———- of course

What else is not so necessary and what else I missed out for 2nd month care for baby?

10. Also, for mothers, what is needed? ——————— good question!!!! 1. You need a break once a weak to be pampered and meet friends to keep your psychology healthy, 2. You need support system at home either nanny/an amazing husband to get you minimum 6 hours sleep/day, eat 3times/day, and 10 minutes peaceful shower 2times/day, 3. You need healthy snack like protein bar , milk , and a lot of fruits inside the fridge to ease your hunger in the middle of the night after unlimited hours of breastfeeding also breastfeeding multivitamin, 4. You need to buy more underwear especially if you are breastfeeding, 5. Small surprise gift from husband once a month , 6. Positive words and compliments, 7. Love yourself, because you are a mother and you are amazing. If you can get everything above, you’ll be healthy mentally and physically, and you’ll be the best mom also loving wife your baby+husband could ever ask.. biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

Please pass this message to him hehehe

Wouldn't it be chaotic to buy only after confinement month?
Especially things like baby cot, you'll need time to choose, transport and install. Last week, hubby spent 2hr installing our baby cot.
Also the baby bath tub, the first day you got home you would need it.
Buying at last minute, you wouldn't have much choice eg; buying at non-promotional price, when out of stocks for the color/model etc.

If you're latching, you can buy baby bottle later. Baby toys too.

Exactly, I think better to purchase items online in advance.
You can purchase baby clothes from this website from Singapore.
