Can anyone suggest what would be the best speaker and microphone for beatboxing?
What specifications shall I look for? Any brand/model recommendations?
Thank you

QUOTE(martian54 @ Dec 13 2018, 11:05 PM) Can anyone suggest what would be the best speaker and microphone for beatboxing? It sometimes baffles me that some of you can't be bothered to look up info independently (i.e. google)... and then maybe present your findings here before inviting a discussion. What specifications shall I look for? Any brand/model recommendations? Thank you To answer your question, whatever cheap dynamic mic that's easily available to you. And for amplification, any boom box with mic inputs that's available/accessible. Usually consumer grade equipment has 1/4" plugs/jacks, while professional gear uses XLR connectors. If you have a guitar amp available, then get a high impedance dynamic mic with 1/4" plugs. I think practicing with a click is more important than the gear so that your beat/time is consistent; noticed that many beatboxers can't keep time. So download a free metronome app on your phone and use it. Anyway, if you want to spend money, better to spend it on a loop sampler with mic inputs (e.g. BOSS RC-20XL, RC-30 Loop Station etc.). Having the ability to record samples plus the loop quantize functionality is useful and opens up possibilities e.g. you're more likely to collaborate with other people to make music. You're welcome. Thank you Ramin for your invaluable input. My humble apologies for not presenting my findings earlier. To answer your question, whatever cheap dynamic mic that's easily available to you. I used to making beats every now and then and record them using my phone audio recorder. But I always wondered how it may sound through speaker/boombox. I came across Audiobox BBX 100, X Beatz 1000, Tango 212 etc. Could not find much review online on those. And I have also downloaded Loopstation android app which last week and currently experimenting with it. And you are absolutely right, getting the timing right is a tough one. Loopstation app has that metronome function. I do have BOSS Loopstation and Korg Kaoss Pad in my bucket list. Saving up for those. Thanks again Ramin for your input. |
