MacOS X default programs.., how do i set it up

hi everyone,

as the topic's title goes, how do i do it..

eg.
Let say my current default movie player is quicktime, how do i make vlc as my default?

Another example, for internet browser: my default is firefox, i wanna make Safari as my default browser, how can i do it?

Safari as default browser=open safari>go to safari preferences>click general tab>look for default browser column and choose safari as default browser

VLC as default video player=go to the video that you wants VLC to play as default>right click on the file>click get info>find the 'open with' tab>choose the player you want to play the video (in this case VLC)>and click change all>it will ask to confirm changes and just click continue.

This my way of doing it. If there is a better way please do tell and correct me if i am wrong..

The way that u had described for VLC and video files can be used for all other file types too, if u want them to be opened in another application.

 

Change to:
