What if "Superman" is exactly what Batman thought of him to be in, BvS?

Although released 2 weeks before the US, it's actually not a bad horror thriller drama despite the amount of jumpscares. Hardcore fans of horror might be disappointed with the small amount of kills though.

I don't mind the number of kills, I just want something new and this looks like it. I saw the red band trailer where this waitress got her eye injured and that was surprisingly hardcore. I haven't been that squeamish for some time, and I say that's a good thing. |

Just watched it yesterday afternoon. It was surprisingly gory for a movie that is being shown in Malaysian cinemas. |

Brightburn (2019)
There is an interesting turn of event... We are getting frighten of kids. Just look at the recent Twilight Zone's episode The Wunderkind (though an argument can be made, the original Twilight Zone did explore this in Season 3 Episode 8 It's a Good Life. Alot of minor all over the world has done terrible things, so much so that there is a push to prosecute them as adults... Superman was first published in 1938. Idealistically, his creators imagine him as a Super Being from outer space. He is good, kind and has nothing but good intention for other peoples' well being. When Steven Spielberg did E.T. (1982), he idealistically imagine a friendly visitor from out space that wants nothing but to call home. Steven Spielberg has since re-make War Of The Worlds (2005) and had given interviews that he is no longer naive enough to believe that if we received visitors from outer space their intentions would be... good. Well, at least good from our point of view... Now to this movie. It is a what-if we are visited by a space baby What if this space baby has special powers and his world of origins does not have good intention towards this planet. What if this space baby grows up and discover that he is sent her to take over this world with his special gifts. Will nature or nurture prevail. Basically, imagine the Superman Origins and give it a horror twist. This movie may have begin as an interesting writing exercise and ended up as a script. I... like it. It is a BRUTAL movie and is NOT meant for the faint hearted. You have been warn kiddies YOU HAVE BEEN WARN. My Two Sen. This post has been edited by Mov_freak: May 17 2019, 09:29 AM |

QUOTE(MADReaLJL @ May 17 2019, 10:08 AM) This is exactly why I am surprise how low key this movie is.It is the kind of movie, that you should watch with a couple of your friends and have coffee after to discuss the movie. » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « Kudos Brightburn... QUOTE(7cantona @ May 22 2019, 07:54 AM) This movie is, perhaps, an alternate take on a superhero, of whom we have all been accustomed to, of his origins. This movie is, perhaps, the What-If question, that some of us have had at the back of our mind, at one point or another. This movie is, perhaps, a response to Amanda Waller, played by Viola Davis, in in Suicide Squad (2016), when she said, “We got lucky with Superman, he shared our values. The next Superman might not!”. This movie is, perhaps, the very caution that Bruce Wayne, played by Ben Affleck, in Dawn of Justice (2016), warned, when he said, “He has the power to take out the entire human race and if we believe there is even a one percent chance that he is our enemy, we have to take it as an absolute certainty!” |

Oh, for those who have watched Avengers: Endgame, you should know that the main kid in BrightBurn is also the teenage version of Ant-Man when the whole time travel experiment was being carried out for the 1st time! Just a fun fact. |

Movie was creepy & brutal dats for sure. Makes me eager waiting for its sequels...
But I do wish at least solid 20-30 mins was allocated to delve into the kids backstory..or his original ancestors & their plans... Like how long ur gonna watch this guy goin on an unstoppable rampage |
