Try to stay out of it as much as possible. But I guess it will end up getting everyone involved anyway so pick a side.
"All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing." "If you are neutral in situations of injustice, you have chosen the side of the oppressor.” "Neutrality helps the oppressor, never the victim. Silence encourages the tormentor, never the tormented." “Not to take sides is to effectively weigh in on the side of the stronger.” |

You can't
what you can do is to try to navigate yourself out of it |

The best defence is a good offence.
The Prince and Art of War are very antiquated, but still somewhat applicable. There are many modern iterations you can buy today. Good luck. |

Learn CYA tactics. Get everything in black & white. Always document key matters and cc everyone in email. Don't leave things stuck on your end.

Best thing to do is probably just pick a side and hope it's not a long standing feud.
It's generally very difficult to avoid it. Even if you try to ignore by saying "finish the work first", you'll still be unknowingly dragged into the fray when people talk behind your back. Basically, if you don't pick a side, the side will still pick you. |

QUOTE(moon yuen @ Dec 10 2018, 10:58 PM) As long as there are people together, there will always be politics - even among friends. How to deal with it...? No one can tell you how. Just be alert and smart. Always be ready to maneuver yourself out of sticky situations. It's usually the street smart ones who play 'em well or able to find ways to slide out of tension. It's hard to tell a person how to deal with it... it's just like how we can't teach a person to be smarter, it's the same reason. Read more books on office politics and see if it helps him. |

No way to stay out......even if u the boss, someone will try to lobby u.....
Office politics is happen when the company performance stagnant or not meeting expectation, have some long serving staff or everyone thinking of long term with the company.....it war of survival in office jungle, everyone is selfish looking after their own interest. |

Can't avoid office politics in general. For me I'll just keep quiet, do my work and go home after finishing my work everyday. By this way you can minimize the impact but of course the drawback is that you won't be getting anything good during the performance review but meh that's fine with me.

there are simply no simple answer to this age old question
it's all about how 'street smart' you are in reading the power, social structures, how sensitive you are in reading the subtle changes in power and adapting to them. the more you are exposed, the more experience u will have in handling office politics |
