Hi Guys,
I have Windows 7 on my laptop and I upgraded to Windows 10 for free on my laptop. Now, I want to buy new SSD 500GB. Should I reinstall Windwos 7 and then, upgrade to Windows 10 or can I install Windows 10 straight without upgrading manually?

Install a new Windows 10 same version with what you upgraded last time
Use your old Windows 7 key to reactivate

Check whether your laptop manufacturer has implement authentication through BIOS, like how Dell has it. If it has, you can directly install Windows 10 and it will be authenticated automatically.

Windows 10 already recognised your laptop. Just reinstall same version and will auto activate. Have done this many times. Works as long as you have not changed the motherboard.

yeah just go straight with w10 clean install and skip the part that ask for key; it will be activated automatically
in case your machine is a laptop and the stock os is different from what you're using now, you can still use ei.cfg to let you choose the matching w10 edition.

Windows 10 was recognized your PC hardware and the activation already sent to Microsoft server. Your PC motherboard hardware ID already registered and bound with Windows 10 activation (please do not compare Windows 7 with Windows 10 because they are totally a different activation system). So you just need to do a bootable clean install for your new SSD (my best recommendation).
Clone from the old harddisk does not optimize the performance of your SSD.
Your Windows 10 will be pre-activated after you done a clean install on your new SSD.

unless you want a fresh OS on your SSD, i would suggest you to clone your hard disk to ssd; that would be easier especially with many free tools that can get it done easily.
