based on this table https://www.imoney.my/articles/income-tax-g...assessment-2016

RM8000 * 12 month = RM 96000. so you get tax RM5600 + RM5460 (RM 26000 * 21%) = RM 11060. so that would be around RM921.70 per month.

If you happen to get a 1 month bonus of 13 months salary. you will fall under the next bracket where you have to pay, RM 11900 + RM 960 ( RM4000 * 24%) = RM 12860 which is roughly RM 1071.70 per month.

PTPTN should just take 100% of the salary. then just give back what they deem reasonable for you to live your life. if they like just return 5%, 12%, 1% or no return, depending solely on their kindness, because they have the "rights" to do it. good luck the future generation...

Thanks for your view. But my view as a PTPTN borrower is for the gov to exercise their own moral judgement. Yes, legally they are entitled to enforce but is it ethical and just? Imagine, one day maybank comes and tell you that you need to pay 500% higher installment for your car loan just because some other people cant pay theirs. are you ok with that? Banks being capitalist in nature will not dare to do that, what more PTPTN which is meant to help the people?

Screw, reprimand and charge additional interests on the defaulters for all i care, declare them bankrupt and charge them in court if necessary.

But dont penalize those that have been diligently paying their dues. which happens to account for about half of all borrowers.

The move to demand higher repayment in accordance to higher salary is just not the way. All of us "simpletons" have already planned and budgeted our cashflow based on the agreed amount signed as per our contracts and suddenly you tell us we have lesser disposable income due to the selfishness of the defaulters?

this is the fault of the defaulters who abused the system and generosity of the gov, dont put all PTPTN borrowers in the same bucket.

if you pay diligently, govt view you as a cash cow and will squeeze you as much as possible, the 15% might be 20% in the future if all these went through, like what the ptptn chairman said, they have the right to do it, that is all that matter to them.

the defaulter? well probably happy holidaying oversee icon_rolleyes.gif
