Well i guess those who use mac to watch rm or rmvb file with Real Player would facing a problem that real player load REAL slow.. lagging all the way~

here i found a solution and wish to share with you all ^~^

That is using mplayer to play the file instead of real player~

for chinese version, refer to my blog
else
refer as below smile.gif
#1: Download three s/w (s) with latest version
1 - mplayer
2 - real player
3 - rp9codec

#2: uninstall real player if any, then install mplayer, follow by rp9codec

#3: go to finder, select Go --> Go to Folder... --> key in /usr/local/lib/ ,change the codecs folder permission to read & write, and then delete all the file inside the codecs folder

#4: Mount the downloaded real player installer (do not install but mount it) then right click and choose show package contents, then copy all the files inside /Contents/Frameworks/HXClientKit.framework/HelixPlugins/Codecs/ to the /usr/local/lib/codecs/ folder

#5: Change back the /usr/local/lib/codecs/ folder permission to original state

#6: Allocate your installed mplayer, then right click and choose show package contents, edit the info.plist by copying below syntax after the very last </string>
<string>rm</string>
<string>RM</string>
<string>rmvb</string>
<string>RMVB</string>
save and close

You are done and now the mplayer is the default player for rm and rmvb file. more better performance then the original real player cool2.gif

hope this guide help those in need..

because before this, i would rather using parallels windows xp real alternate to play the rm/rmvb format file then using real player on mac.

It would probably just lag and hang and lag and hang and cause some heat on my macbook.. rclxub.gif

If you have latest RealPlayer and MPlayer installed, there's no need to remove them.
Do this:
- Install the rp9codec.
- Locate your installed RealPlayer, right click and browse into /Contents/Frameworks/HXClientKit.framework/HelixPlugins/
- Copy the "Codecs" folder to somewhere easily accessible.
- Rename "Codecs" to "codecs". Lowercase C.
- On finder, Go --> Go to Folder... or press "CMD + Shift + G" paste this "/usr/local/lib/".
- Copy the "codecs" fodler into the /lib folder, click Authenticate.
- Edit the plist of Mplayer as lhwbrian mentioned.

here's my feedback after few days of testing.

on some mac, the voice and video doesn't sync correctly, this can be fixed by changing the Video output module to CoreVideo or Quartz.

on some older mac (in my case G4), the performance is poor. any solution?
